The material purportedly bore the signature of Denis Pushilin, the self-proclaimed leader of the pro-Russian separatist group, but he has maintained that his group had nothing to do with the leaflets and that they were put out by someone else to discredit the separatists as being anti-Semitic...

That's kinda what I was thinking too... If there's one group the Russians HATE with a deep, burning, seething passion stronger than they hate Jews or even Americans, it's Nazis... The institutional memory of WWII is deep in Russia. Keep in mind that while we lost a horrific 400,000+ people, and the Nazis took 6,000,000+ in their concentration camps, the Russians lost around 28,000,000 people in that war. A people don't forget that quickly or easily.
