Windshield that will protect my passenger?

I'm looking for a windshield for my IS that I can look over and will get the wind up over my passenger  a little better. Has anyone tried one of these windshields from Gustafsson Plastics? He said he can make me a stock height of 15.5 with a "EuroFlip" at the top. Wonder if this with eliminate most of the wind for the passenger?

Having a shield that protect the passenger (virtually always on an elevated seat, compared to the rider), but which can still be seen over by the rider is an age old issue.  I have no exp with that shield, but have read that the laminar lips and recurved shield tops raise airfow higher than traditional shields. How much, I do not know.  There is even a rubber edging that can be purchased, trimmed to length and slipped onto a std shield top that pushes airflow up. It is ugly, but works, to some degree.

My 2 cents is to get the proper shield height for you (driver), then do what you have to for the passenger.  And that is generally having them wear a full length helmet visor and good eyewear that keeps the effects of excess airflow and bugs to a minimum.

Getting a shorter woman is another solution, but that presents a whole different can of worms.  ;)

I have the "flip", or re-curve at the top of a couple of my shields that I use on my Woody's fairing.

They DO help....and at speed, it's like adding an extra 1 1/2" to 2" to your shield.  However, the effect depends on your speed.  Slow speeds....not so much.  The effect is best at highway speeds.

Do you have any other wind defectors on your Interstate?  A set of Bakers along with some fork mounted lowers/deflectors will go a long way for wind managment.

If you can find them, I think Honda once offered a set of wing deflectors that mounted to the sides of your Interstate shield to help with wind.
I can't help about the shape I'm in
I can't sing, I ain't pretty and my legs are thin
But don't ask me what I think of you
I might not give the answer that you want me to

BF....She is mainly complaining about the air that is hitting her in the face at highway speeds, 55+, so maybe the flip shield will work for me if you say it helps at the higher speeds. I do have a set of Honda fork deflectors, but I run without them in the summer to get more air on my body.

I think that most of the time once you hit those higher highway speeds, your passenger is going to get the wind hitting them regardless. it's a bit harder to have a windhsield that'll deflect all the way to the passenger at 75mph+ and not ruin your gas  mileage completely.  (aerodynamics )

NEHI

I have a Laminar lip on my I/S. It makes a noticeable differance for me, but my SO says it makes a huge differance for her. Placement on the windscreen is important. I have mine so when I look over the top of the windscreen I look just over the top of the Laminar lip. I have a used windscreen that I drilled many holes in so I could get the right placement 1/4 inch up or down made a noticeable differance.

You will probably have to look through it but the Tall Tulsa windshield is the only one I found that protects the passenger.  Of course that depends on your passengar's height too.

Momz

Tulsa Windshields has/had a windshield an extra tall model that almost leaned back and almost covered the drivers head, thus keeping the passenger out of the wind and virtually kept both rider/passenger dry in the rain.

Two of my Valks have no windshield and my I/S has a "shorty". They are motorcycles, not cars. JMHO

I have a showchrome windshield on my interstate it is 2in taller than stock and a total of 8in wider. I'm 6'2 and wife is 5'10. I can still look over the top in bad weather and she says the wind doesn't hit her at all. I've ran this shield over 100k miles now.

I know, I know, I love the wind, but at higher speeds its just a little too much for the lady. It looks like if the Laminar Lip works for NEHI, maybe this shield by Gustafsson would help my cause, gotta keep her happy. I have had a tall Tulsa shield in the past and I just cant stand to look throught it, too dangerous, ended up cutting it down. I ride in all sorts of weather and fog so the tall Tulsa just won't work for me.

I've met the guy and had him make a windshield for my old Goldwing.

He recently made a windshield for a friends VTX 1800.

I had him make me some new wings for the fairing on my Interstate.

He does GREAT work and he's a REALLY nice guy.

He did the euro flip for my friends VTX and it works great.

Eventually, I'll get him to make me a custom windshield for my Vulcan.
