talked the wife into pancakes for dinner 8)

I found a recipe online and it's pretty doggone good.  :cooldude:

fluffy pancakes

1. combine 3/4 cup of milk with 2 tablespoons white vinegar, set aside for 5 minutes to sour (it's going to sound weird and look weird to but trust me)
2. large mixing bowl 1 cup all purpose flour, 2 tsp white sugar, 1 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt, mix together.
3. to the soured milk add an egg and 2 tablespoons of melted butter, whisk throughly
4. add wet ingredients to the dry ingerdients until all lumps are gone.
5 pour 1/4 cups onto a non stick skillet over medium heat.

I make buttermilk pie and make  my own buttermilk  in a similar way. The  pie comes out better then when I use store bought buttermilk . I will try this pancake recipe.

If ya makin buttermilk, ya also gotta he making butter.  This requires milk straight from the cow, not pasteurized milk from the store cooler, or other substitute formulas.  They may taste similar but they aren't buttermilk.

My Buttermilk Pancake Recipe is to add water to a box mix, beat/mix with a fork let it sit a few mins and then pour on a hot oiled flat square skillet.  Have cut fresh fruit and Cool Whip at the ready along with flavored syrup.

Easy peasey ......

Adding vinegar to milk is a cheaters way of making buttermilk if you don't have any in the house. Might as well get some buttermilk next time you go shopping.  Makes it quicker

MP

Tried it and liked it.

Used 1 tsp baking powder, and 1/2 tsp baking soda.

yeah I don't think it's buttermilk so much as it 'sours' or 'curdles' the milk.
