And the stock the gubment had, lost us tax payers 10 billion dollars when they sold it. Still not holding my breath over them repaying the bailout and GM is getting another one. Go figure.

GM has fought the ignition switch problem since long before the bailout. In other words I think they lied to obama.
We are, at last count, losing almost 30 billion on that deal and they are about to get another bailout !?  The result of the first bailout is why I refuse to buy a GM product.

Agree, that bailout left a bad taste in my mouth and prior, I was strictly a GM guy for near 20 years.  Haven't bought a GM since 2007 and won't unless I get a VERY good deal.  Since 2007, strictly Hyundai and Toyota not that it matters for they all have their faults in some shape or form.

Was a DIE HARD GM guy for many many years.

I still have an 04 GMC P/U that I' like very much.

I'm currently looking for a new car, I didn't even give GM a second look.

Right now A new Toyota Corolla is the front runner.

If considering a new toyota corolla,  please test drive first a new hyundai elantra will be just as cheap and just as good of quality/reliability plus is a tad roomier and slightly better gas mileage and a lot longer bumper/bumper/powertrain warranty.  For about 2 grand more at 20K new, the 2014 hyundai sonata base model (is well equipped) would be my first choice though since is a lot roomier and will get 34-35 mpg vs. elantra/corolla only slightly better at 38-39 mpg.

I did like though my former 2009 corolla 1.8L we got on average 35 mpg and hear the new corolla's are roomier in back seat anyways and get 38-39 mpg now being a 6 speed vs. prior was a 4 speed.

The 2014 Corolla is a complete new design, and is the roomiest car in its class by far.

I looked at everything available for under $20K and the Corolla stands out as the best among them all.

And I can get it for less than any of them.

I can drive a New Eco Model home (42 mpg Hwy) for less than $18,500 OTD.

Seems like a NO Brainer to me.
