We have Merlin@Home heart monitor for my wife's ICD. It hooks to the phone and sends data to the heart Clinic. It says it is for analog land lines. Long story short, Our land line was messed up so we got a Verizon Home Connect. Our phones and monitor plugs directly into the Verizon box. Now the monitor does not work. St.Judes medical says we need a cellular adapter. I think it is to convert from analog to a digital signal for the Verizon. But, they want us to sign a three year contract and pay a monthly fee for the adapter. I have no proble paying for because my wife needs it, However if it is just an adapter and can be purchased elsewhere with out the monthly thing, I'm all for that. any one have any ideas. Thanks.

Found this site to explain it a bit better but I would think that there are other alternatives. Cancellation fee is 125.00 So at least that's not that bad. I would think you could use another monitor the problem comes in that this one has a monitoring service and uses 4g so it communicates with a base. You could get a land line for 19.00 a month or maybe add it on to your existing cell phone service as another line at 9.95 a month.

Merlin partners with Integron to provide this Wireless USB option. It's a free-standing wireless transmitter/receiver that plugs into a USB port on the Merlin home unit and communicates with Integron's (and thence Merlin's) servers via the ATT and T-Mobile cell network. It's a subscription service. According to Integron (as of 4/29/14) the subscription costs $16.99/mo. with a 3-yr contract and an early termination fee of $125.00. Might be worth it if you don't have a landline and don't want one. Integron also offers an Internet option, which requires broadband Internet, with a dedicated Ethernet port on the end user's router. No monthly fee for this option—just a one-time startup fee… of $450.00 . Clearly not destined for wide-spread adoption.
