Hello Valkyrie riders!
During my last ride, my right side signal light ( front and back) stay solid instead of blinking.
Light bulbs are tested, all good.
Any ideas ?
Greatly appreciate your help.

Your front signal uses a 1157 light bulb. It may have turned slightly within the socket, but they are so common that I'd start by replacing the bulb with a new one.

The switch may have also become corroded. Take it apart and spray contact cleaner liberaly, then coat the switch contacts with dialectric grease, and reassemble.

That should cure your problem. Good Luck.

I fixed a turn signal problem by spraying contact cleaner in the gaps of the turn signal switch while working it with the key off.

Take the unit a part and spray with contact cleaner . Put it back together and it still not working. Would a malfunction relay or fuses do this.

Hello,
On standard and Tour models the 1157  front turn signal bulb use the opposite side bulb element for a ground.  Check both front bulbs, (1157 bulbs have 2 filament, 1 for running lights and a 2nd filament for the turn lights) This is used for the blinker indicator bulb ( green) located in the headlight housing.

1157 pins on the bulb are offset and have 2 contact points on the base.  1156 bulb have opposing alignment pins and 1 contact point on the base.

I dont have the wiring diagram in front of me, but cant remember how the rear turn signals are connect into the circuit.

A 12vdc test light would be a good tool to follow the power path thru the circuit.

I copied this out of the factory manual.

TURN SIGNAL RELAy INSPECTION
Turn signal light does not blink
Remove the following:

- seat (page 2-2) - left side cover (page 2-3)
- radiator reserve tank without disconnecting the siphon
tube (page 6-81

Remove the turn s gnal relay from the stay on the battery box
and disconnect the relay connector.

Short the black and gray wire terminals of the relay connector
with a jumper wire.

Turn the ignition switch ON, operate the turn signal switch
and check the turn signal light.

If the light does not come on, check for open circuit in
black and gray wires.

If the light comes on, check for continuity between the
green wlre terminal and body ground.

- If there is no continuity, check for open circuit in green
wire. - If there is cont~nuity, check the connector terminals for
loose or poor contact.

If the connector terminals are OK, replace the turn signal
relay.

hope this helps.

Thank you . I will try that today. Yesterday I try to switch the light bulb from left side to the right side. But still not working.

NITRO

I had this same problem, but I believe it was the left side that wouldn't blink. At first it only would happen on cold mornings (30 degrees or so), but eventually did it most of the time. All worked correctly after completely disassembling the switch (you have to get it completely apart, clean all the old dirt and grease out, and re-grease it) and cleaning it up. The switch felt much smoother afterwards too.
When in doubt, ride.

Interesting new information . I took the turn signal housing apart clean with contact cleaner and put back together still not working. On the interesting parts, the left turn work fine. The right light stay on . Both filaments in the front bulb on and extremely hot. Bought a used relay from pinwall. It comming UPS. Hope this will work.

If 1 side works and the other does not, why would you replace the flasher?
There is only 1 flasher that works both right and left turn signals.

So switching the bulbs between side has no effect on how it is currently working.. correct?
Did you check the bulbs in the back?

You have a grounding issue or a bulb/socket issue... not a flasher issue since 1 side works properly.

just my thoughts... do you have a 12v test light?

SIGNAL LIGHTS PROBLEM IS SOLVE !!! :D

There was nothing wrong with the system. The problem was that the previous owner wirering, I think?, for the trailer. When he cut the wires bundle for the trailer, he did not tape it up , and lefted hanging in the wheel well. Anyway, the opened wires touch together and cause the right signals light to stop blinking. So seal up the wires and all is great. Thank all for the help.
