Highway drit0o 85 mph for extended periods, any problems with that for my interstate. About 35k rpm.

I run fill up to fill up at 100+ with zero problems. Of course fill ups are a lot closer together at speed.

Went from Louisiana to Montana and maintained 85 to 90 mph pulling my trailer and not so much as a hic-up. Just ask yourself if you're comfortable at that speed.

You must have one of those really well built ones if you can run it up to 35k rpm. Mine will only go up to about 7k. Sorry, just had to.  :2funny:

If I need to make time on the interstate, I will run at 10-12 over.   75+12= 87 mph.  Run it all day long!

Now, I do not run a long time on each tank, as it somehow seems to develop a hole in the gas tank whenever I run at those speeds!

Yeah, maybe upshift a gear or two until it's under 7k

I'd think I'd be shifting out of 1st gear if you're at about 35k rpm and 85+mph.

But seriously, 2 up from Wyoming to Iowa in a day at 85 mph was not a problem and on interstates I do 80 -85 all day. No problem.

Bout a week and a half after I-13 last year I left my brothers place. Went over to visit the Middle East Conflicts Wall at Marseilles Il. When I got stretched out on I-39 South soon enough I was in the left lane getting a LOT of sideways looks.  :2funny: I had my ankles over the road pegs leanin back on the backrest just ONE with the Phatt Ghurl and that day in particular and one handing her B T W.  :coolsmiley: After the "looks" I glanced at me M P H guage.  It were sittin dead on 95 M P H. Like others have stated-nary a glitch but DAAYYYUUMMM do she run through the 87 octane at that speed!!  ;D AND while rollin at that speed if you grab a hand full she will STILL accelerate.  :cooldude: The onlyest thing that impedes progress at that speed-besides L E Os-is the motion lotion capacity.  ;) RIDE SAFE.

100 MPH pulling a trailer , went to reserve at 95 miles.  No , I did not run at a hundred the full 95 miles, I was at a constant 80-90 as I was keeping up with traffic. After fueling ,I brought it down to a constant 75 where I could.Brought the fuel milage up to about 32-35. (pulling a trailer)
I have since polished the intake runners , reset the carbs and got the fuel up to 40-41 W/O the trailer. I was running 36-38 before. I also did the desmog.

I ran a stretch of I-90 in SD several years ago at 85-90 MPH.  Learned a valuable lesson.
Mileage dropped to 22 MPG.

You guys are nuts, but I love it!  5 mph over the speed limit is my cruising speed, don't need no expensive performance awards.  Wave and smile as you go by.   :cooldude: Hoser

Yup, she sure sucks the fuel after 3K RPM!
Between 80 and 90 for most of the day pulling a trailer and down to 23 to 25 MPG.......BUT! As stated......it was FUN!  :cooldude:

May the Lord always ride two up with you!

Past 2 months I have been making numerous rides to visit my mother at a nursing home. 200miles round trip, all I-85. Solo, 98 tourer 35k on the clock. Steady 85, sometimes 90,95 to pass slow pokes. Feeding her corn-free on each end. Checking each fill right to the line in the filler neck. 30-32 depending on how many 95 blast.
Saturday I see a single head light slowly creeping up. Back off to 75. About 5 miles he pulls up beside me. It's a harley. APE hangers, straight pipes, little blonde on the back, ponytail in the wind. We both give the obligatory wave. I see both of the them giving the Phat Lady the once-over. I have stock pipes so she is just quietly purring. Roll on to 85, he hangs in for maybe a minute, then slowly fades away.
Hope I am not stealing the thread with the rest of the story. I go out yesterday to check tires for today's ride and what do I have, 3" of cord showing on 14K rear E-3. God's hands were on me. Rear end maint. time, already have the tire. Hello Dark Side.

If I go over 60 or so for more than 15 minutes my headers turn cherry red
and I have to pull over for it to cool off...

At 135 indicated a 2001 Standard will only go 63 miles.

Then it runs out of gas.

every so often honda would pull an engine off the assembly line and run it at red line for 24 hours and pull it apart and mic everything,,if anything was out of specs then they would replace the problem molds.. so dont worry none about the 1500 honda 6.. you cannot hurt it unless you hydro lock it...

Keeping the gas tank full is the only problem you're likely to have. Just one of the many cool things about the valks. Unlike a beasty car or truck which can be almost impossible to fill with the motor running our valks can sip gas or guzzle it. It's all in the wrist.

Although, I'm not afraid I'll hurt the Fat Lady, I also don't wish to empty my wallet.    Therefore, I try to stay within 5 to 7 of the posted speed limit.

But, there was that one time on I 64 when I passed a new Mustang doing my 5-7 over and the driver seemed to not like being passed.   He immediately pulled out into my lane and got right on my rear fender.    I'm not fond of being tail gated or of the idea of being run over so, I twisted the throttle.    He stayed with me up to about 130.   I slowly crept away from him.    Once he was out of sight, I slowed back down.    I'm guessing our little adventure lasted about 5 or 6 miles but, it was enough to get my heart beat up a few clicks.   It was fun but as I said, I can't afford to get caught doing that so, I keep the Fat Lady constrained to a point.   That was the only time I've had her up to that speed, I doubt I'll take her there again without provocation.

Few years ago I was riding to Gatlinburg to ride the Dragon with
Smokin Joe. I was running about 80 or so when a fairly new Vette
came up the on ramp beside me. He started pulling away so I goosed
it a little to keep up. We ended up running 100-110 (taking turns being
in front) until I had to exit for gas. Not sure how far we 'rode' together,
but it was probably 80 or so miles. Yes, I know he could have left me behind
but we were both having fun!!!
