I must admit I've become one. recently watched season one and most of the way through season two when one glaring historical discrepancy hit me. all the saddles have stirrups!

the stirrup was invented by then (the Chinese invented it about 200AD) but they didn't come to be in Europe until the late 800's. yeah they are trying to be historically accurate and all, so I can't blame them for this. can you imagine modern actors trying to climb up and down off of horses without the aid of stirrups?  :2funny: how undignified

Most couldn't get on much less stay on with out the stirrups.    :cooldude:   Falling off is probably not in the script.   ;D

Been watching it since the beginning. Just watched the season finale. Good show. It started on Sunday nights and has been on Thursdays on the History channel. Long waits between seasons, like other cable series.

Sons of Anarchy, 790 AD, edition.
We love the show.
Those actors arent just off the street. They have some real chops. Look up the show and read the bio's. They have historical researchers and a nice row of ducks.
Stirrups, Probably didnt have rubber axes and spears either, but, I'll give em that.
We get 7 figures on our licence plates here.
I was thinking of getting another Valk and getting,"SHLDMDN". Shield Maiden, on the plate.
The importance of the crows are they were the earthly form of the Valkyries.
There, now its Valkyrie related.

Not a bad show - Vikings,  I watched it from the beginning as well until just recently the season finale that had a small twist in it as well I thought Loke was going to betray Ragnar, but he didn't.

Sons of Anarchay is nice but can be a tad bit too graphic for prime time TV I think.

I also watch some Alaska shows and Wicked Tuna/Deadlious Catch/Ice Road truckers and even from time to time still Duck Dynasty although I think that show in 1-2 more seasons will have lost it's appeal and get old.  I thought the first season was the best and funniest now it just seems more scripted.

Yah, I know,  I need a life!  :uglystupid2:

That is WAY too much exercise.

Those ancients that chopped and hacked their way thru battle for hours must have been in really good shape.

She is hot - I'd let her attack me anytime anywhere and let her win.  :coolsmiley:

Yes, most were probably in better shape than most of us, but their god, I think Thor (or Odin)?,  thought it an honor to die in battle and their mindset was such that it wasn't so much as physical, but more mental.

Better be careful what you wish for.  Remember what she did to her 2nd husband!   :'(   :2funny:

The crows are Odin's, Odin has 2 wolves and 2 crows that go into battle with him, I have a full back piece with Odin slaying a dragon, could only fit 1 wolf. Ragnar says he is decendant of Odin. Thor is Odin's son, God of battle, Odin's other son Baldar is God of peace and crops.

ya know another thing that kinda bugged me, but I'm not completely sure of, I'm pretty sure the monks in the monastery that Athelstan came from would be armed. England was not the safest place in the world at 800 AD.
