Fat Lady Riders,

So I was coming back from a Three Sisters trip over the weekend on Sunday night and noticed that my brights wouldn't work over the last hour or so.  The blue indicator light wouldn't illuminate either.  I noticed this on Saturday night as well over the last 15 minutes on the way back to Luckenbach, but didn't think much of it.  I get home and the headlight is not working at all (thank the good Lord for light bars).  I thought about my plan of troubleshooting attack and just got home and... they work.  Low, high beam and indicator light.  I had cleaned all the switches before the trip with contact cleaner squirted onto the housing and working the switches a few times.  Other than that, I made a few other modifications including a Wolo Bad Boy horn and 12v power port (both wired directly to battery/grounds and fused in-line).  I also added 4.5" risers and did not need to re-route the cables. 
I'm kind of at a loss, though I'd hate to have this happen again. 

Any ideas?  My first inclination would be to open up the switch housings and thoroughly clean them, second would be to remove my bat wing and open up the light housing to make sure all connections are solid.  As far as fuses, I'm new to the bike and haven't really done much electrical - on OEM components anyway.  Any ideas?

Starter switch. Power for the headlight runs through there.

Thanks Daniel.  I'll go pull it apart now and have a look.  However, with NO starting issues would this still be the most viable culprit?

Yes.

Been there done that.

Rode from house to across town to the store. Went in the store. Came out, bike starts just fine. I see my reflection in the store window and my headlight is not working. Wiggle the switch a bit and it flickers.
Clean switch and all is good.

Yep. Two contacts. When the button is pushed, one engages the starter relay, the other disconnects the headlight. On the standards and tourers there is no headlight relay, so the full current of the headlight (and extra lights if you hooked them to the headlight circuit with no relay) goes through there. The contacts tend to melt a bit into the plastic and get sticky.

Make sure they are free/springy...many have pulled it apart and cleaned but not freed up the springy-ness, and lube with diaelectric or white grease.

Most likely cause. Check the fuses too, but this is actually more likely.
