Gotta run up to B'ham later this week.  Need hotel recommendations.  Hopefully, not something that will break the bank....sub $150 a night or better hopefully.

Don't know anything about Birmingham other than where it is....and that I've driven thru there once or twice.

Where I need to go is located just south of the city center (UAB area)....so anything within easy driving distance of Independence Drive, highway 31 (where I'm going) and anywhere along Montgomery Highway (which is the same road....also highway 31) would be nice.

So far, I've looked at two places.  One pretty close to where I'm going and the other at the RiverChase Galleria.  They're both priced the same.

Alot of places to eat around the Wynfrey......not so much at the Marriott (just an Applebee's across the street) from what I can tell on Google maps.
I can't help about the shape I'm in
I can't sing, I ain't pretty and my legs are thin
But don't ask me what I think of you
I might not give the answer that you want me to

Oss

Dan and I stayed in Tuscaloosa right across the street from Hooters

PM me BF, I live in the Riverchase area, near the Galleria, off of Highway 31 (Montgomery Highway) and have a big house and a spare bedroom that no one is using.  You are most welcome here, and come and go as you please.  I have a busy day Thursday and Friday, but will be home each night. Also have a black (the fastest color) 2003 Valk, new to the VRCC and Valk world, and will be attending my first InZane in Asheville pretty soon.  It's about 15 minutes to downtown, 20 in traffic.  To the UAB area.

That's probably a little too far south Oss.  I need to be a little closer, or an easy straight drive to the UAB area.

You bet.  There are several new hotels on Lorna Road (Highway 150) just west of the Galleria, right next to Highway 31.  And, also several new one's on Highway 119 right near the Interstate, they will be to the west of I-65.

Bighead

Caribou is the Hampton still there right off 280 in Homewood? That would be close and quick to where he needs to be.

Anyone else think Oss owns stock in Hooters?

I think he plans his lodging by first looking up locations of Hooters?  :-*
