Hi everyone,
when i release the clutch on a street corner i can hear a clunk somewhere coming from the driveshaft or final drive.Does it ring a bell for somebody. Old parts semms to be hard to find in good condition.
Thank's for the help.
I am planning to take everything apart tomorrow. ;)

U joint, or pinion splines. Pull the rear end and pull the driveshaft from the Pinion. Or could be extremely worn dampers in the wheel :cooldude:

Check for worn dampeners in the wheel while its broke down as well.

Put the ujoint in a vice and channel locks on the other end to check it for play while it is out, don't get fooled just because it feels good while twisting it in your hands.
The most expensive things you will purchase, are those things you would not have needed if you had listened and obeyed.

I checked out the drive shaft this morning prior to dismantle everything and the universal joint is all wornd out. When i bought this bike the stealer said that everything have been inspected and repaired if necessary. It isn't the case. I wrote them a nice complaint letter. Waiting to get an answer.
Thank's for the help.
I will let you know what is happening

Good Luck with that!

Even if they checked and replaced a lot of stuff, I doubt many would include the U-joint in "everything".  Simple fix.  Glad you caught it before it grenaded on a long trip.

It's hard to check a u joint with taking it apart

Here's some good advice if you plan on keeping the bike.

Buy two.

One for now, and one for later.

They will not get any easier to find.

We've already had that lesson.

Job is done. Replaced the ujoint, driveshaft and coupler. The dealer offered me a discount of 20% on all parts. Took me 4 hours to do everything. Now it runs smooth. :)

Louis do you think the u-joint was the issue or a combination u-joint, worn shaft splines and pinion cup? Just curious.  :)
Glad she is smooth again.

I Think it is a combination. The way i see it the drive shaft wobble destroyed the ujoint. He was not rusted but two of the caps were loose in the yoke
