Any good quality       3 PERSON      tent.

Buying a 3 person makes it a whole lot more comfortable for 2 people and gear.

i know very little about tents..my concerns are the length of the poles and not needing much staking? your point is taken, probably need to plus up one to really have room

Check REIs website for tents. Get aluminum poles and a rainfly that goes almost down to the ground.

Momz

Get a "Therma-Rest" pad for your tent/sleeping bags.
Spent a lot of time sleeping in tents all over this country and abroad.

I like the fiberglass poles a lot better. Have had aluminum ones bend & break in heavy winds.

I use a Slumberjack tent got it sportsmans warehouse. It's a 2 man sets up quick and rolled up all fits easily in my saddle bag with room to spare  but you better be good friends if two of you are gonna get in it.

I've got a similar tent purchased at Sears during a 50%-off sale.
Plenty of room inside for 2. Spent one night in an all night rain.
Had to pack it wet for the ride home. Unrolled it and put it on a
clothes-line in the garage. Looks like new after the storm.
Rolls up into a 24"long ? roll.

Any good quality dome tent is very good for travel

The dome tents have self contained collapsible poles,

need very little ground attachment, come in their own cover/case

and are single person put up, take down.

Wal mart. Lots to look at. The back pack tents are what u want. They are 7x7 or 7x9. Center height is less then 4'. Have to lay down to put ur pants on or do what i do and change outside. Lol usually less then $40. I use them at sturgis all the time.
I look at weight and size when find one. Depending on how long ur tenting but they do not have a extra window in it. They do get hot if ur in them for the day. If ur just needing to sleep a air mattress and a tarp has made my nights comfy on many nights on the road and at rallies. Just dont use a black tarp or some chic might not see you in the dark and may pee on u.  :crazy2:

take a look at the Coleman website. they have instant tents that break down and set up quickly and fit into a nice carry bag.  I believe Walmart and possibly Sears stocks them

I have found.....that a two person tent is actually a ONE person tent.......and the scale goes up from there.........

If you are staying in a tent with your Wife/Girlfriend........you need at least an 8 person tent!!!!   LOL!!!!

(Small tents) reminds me of taking the famous Blue Train from Ankara to Istanbul Turkey with the (brand) new wife.  It is an overnighter, and you get a sleeper berth.  Top and bottom bunks..... so narrow, if you roll over you go to the floor.  She was disappointed we could not share a bed.  Well dear, you have your choice, you can either be on top of me or under me, what will it be?

As expected, I got the top bunk.
