I recently purchased valkyrie armrests fro a member on the vrcc classified . they were advertised as such and knowing Chantal would lie them ,sent the paypal with a little bit over to cover charges.
The things arrived but had been too busy working to pay attention to them exept that they were in good sape. so when I finnaly try to install them they are too narrow ,will not fit the two lower mountingholes of the cc bar backrest .They are not valkyrie! the seller is telling me to sandwich the armrest chrome to chrome on the backrest plus he shos me the video of the maker showing how they should be mounted (the same way I tryed). now he refuses to give me my money back in exchange for a return. no wonder so many of us feel the world is a MESS!

Sorry to hear that. All my many purchases from members have been right on w/no problems or misunderstandings. :coolsmiley:
I hope you get it resolved. :)

I have had almost all good experiences with the exception of one. Member said he would ship INSURED. When there was damage he states I THOUGHT it was insured.....sorry. Doesn't cover it. Shame but a few can ruin a good thing for the majority. Sometimes you get burned but MOST are great people on this board.

And yes my transaction was with a member that goes to rides in Ind.

post a picture of it......without seeing what you are talking about its hard to imagine arm rests that are for a motorcycle but wont fit a Valkyrie.  Are they anything like this?

SpidyJ

I bought the armrest/trim set for my IS from a linked vendor on VRCC.  When I installed them, I found that the luggage compartment will not open with the armrests installed.
Poor design.  Not noted in advertisement.  When I complained......no answer.

Fitment is important.  I will ask others before purchasing stuff from now on.

Chrisj this armrest seems to be made for a smaller bike as a gtx 1100- 1300.
Bought a real nice passenger back rest once on the bay that was too small, not wide enough to fit the valkyrie. (sent it back, got the refund right away)Wizard should remember that one!
I don t want to give his name yet . a chance to come clean
they bolt with a backing plate to the lower two holes to the back rest cushion.these are about a half inch short.
Enjoy the ride!

I would PM that person, make them aware of this thread, and allow them to rectify the situation. If that doesn't happen then "out" them on here.

I am also active in the running and restoration of Antique Outboards. I belong to www.aomci.org and do a lot through that organization.
Around 6 mos ago one of the members there advertised and sold an engine to one of our Florida members. Engine not as advertised by any stretch. He refused to refund or make right.
He is now no longer a member.

It happens. I bought a supposed "solo fender rack" from a member here. He said up front it was not the original valkyrie model, but then also said it had been mounted on his wife's Valkyrie and he had just removed it. I bought it, received it, then sent him a photo of the rack laying on the back fender of my tourer showing it was about 6" too long. No way was it ever on a Valkyrie. He immediately apologized, refunded my money and shipping and I sent it back. I believe that like myself, it was just a "brain fart". I have them all the time. I have had 99% good luck with buying from this board. I feel like this board is an extended part of my family most of the time.
Give the guy the opportunity to make it right. As some have suggested, send a photo. I know it's frustrating to buy and then not get what you thought you were getting, but we're all human and as such make stupid human mistakes. Given the chance, most folks will try to make it right.
If he turns out to be one of the 1% that just won't make it right. Make his name known.
Let us know how it all turns out.

The reason I asked for the picture, because if it is an Ultimate (or similar) it wont work with the OE Backrest pad, and they arent supposed to attach to the backrest pad at all.

You take the pad off and clamp the hinge assembly to the sissy bar and then put the pad on...except I had to buy the Ultimate back rest pad for it to work.

I am not sure that people's names ought to be published for criticism. ???
Not in this case, but most disagreements have three sides, yours, hers and everybody else's. :-\

I would be embarrassed to screw with somebody's reputation when I might be part of the solution. :-[
Moreover, once someone exposes another person, be good, bad or indifferent, it would spread like wild fires.
That's when the second-guessing and the carnage begins. :-X

Now, if in the process of buying something from a member you were to discover that she is a serial killer,
we need to know about that ... :-X   ... But then again, would you really want to piss off a serial killer? :'( :-X

BTW; my Black Valkyrie is faster than yours. It must be the Blacked out wheels! :2funny:

I don't think Connie's past is anyone else's business.   >:(

actually, most business I have done on the site has been really pleasant, most have been 100% honest. however, what do you do about a member who offers you 1/3 what your asking for a part, and when you say no, has a complete meltdown, cussing you and calling you all kinds of unpleasant names. then taking any shot he can at you from then on. aren't these people just as bad as the dishonest bunch, shouldn't we post their names too ?

The emperor has no clothes

I've only bought from 3 people on our classifieds but all 3 were superb to deal with! Sounds like I've been lucky compared to some others.

flsix

Sorry for your troubles with this person.

I feel that every transaction I've participated in on this forum has been described accurately and had a good outcome.

I hope I'm not in a minority in this regard.

You can't do much about the length of your life, so focus on the width.

I bought a bracket from the fellow over the pond that makes arm rests and mine like yours is about a half inch short I think some backrests are different ? I have mine chrome pinched to chrome as of now ?
Been wanting to see some others and how they are mounted

I had the big bike one before the Ultimate.  It also mounted to the sissy bar.
