People like to poke fun, but there are parts of California that are utterly beautiful.

We are all blessed to live in such a wide-open beautiful country we call USA.  California by no means has the monopoly on beauty here.  But now having lived in San Diego and much farther north near San Francisco and having travelled the entire state, I can more fully appreciate how dynamic this state really is.

There are parts I will not miss: the crowded cities, the traffic, the high cost of living, the lack of rain and thunder, other stuff.  I'm not a big fan of the vast amounts of desert.

I do enjoy the coasts, the mountains, and the variety of folks who live here.  There are freaks, farmers, city-slickers, and everything in between.  The locals I met in the Sierras reminded me of any small town back down south or east I've been.  Sure, there are crazy people, snobs, illegals, criminals, etc.  But friendly good people abound, just like everywhere else I've been.  I've seen really great things here and have met some really great people.

There are parts of California that I will surely miss, and will be happy to come back to visit someday.

Just saying....   :coolsmiley:

San Diego is my favorite town.  Couldn't afford to live there but very nice place.  Mountains, beaches, nice people, all you could ask for.  Politics not so much.

I spent 9 years in Northern Ca, Susanville area.  I enjoyed the area around there.  Lots of good mountain roads for summer riding, some flats for winter riding.  Had a great home with an excellent view of the mountains.  Winters not too bad and summer not to hot.  BUT there was two problems with the area, One it was in CA with CA government policies and TWO, my grandsons were 3 hours way in OR.

I do slip below the border every so often and enjoy those roads and scenery.

yep, cali has stunning views. many other states are beautiful as well, but it seems cali should share with Nebraska. one of the states suffering from visual ennui.  :-\
