 Six3Go's post on asking about the BRP has been hijacked.

Doug is a friend who I've ridden with a few times.  All that he wanted was info about the BRP,  He did get that from a few (thank you) but then the post was hijacked into" going to Inzane."

It seems like VRCCr's are just jumping in and changing the subject of his post.  That is not polite.

It might be a small thing to some but it isn't to Six2Go or me.

We can do better.

If you are pointing a finger at me I was just letting G-Man know he could not make a 375 mile ride on The Blue Ridge Parkway in a day without riding in the dark ( The Blue Ridge Parkway is no place to be in the dark on a motorcycle ) . I went back just now and looked at that thread and it's got some very good points in it that ANYONE planning a ride on The Blue Ridge Parkway could use.... I am guilty of the above however with InZane coming up next week and the fact that InZane has The Blue Ridge Parkway at it's door step I really think just about every response in that " high-jacked " could be useful information to anyone ( friend included ) who will be on The Blue Ridge Parkway.

I agree up to a point Joe.  I think that you'll have to admit tho that the first response by Britman was more to the point of the asked question.
Overall, I don't have any intention of "raising hell' here.  Doug definitely took it as a hijacking and it was his post (and I agree with Doug).

Overall, the part about 'going to inzane' could have been posted as a separate one from Doug's query.

Seems a bit of BS to me, Wayne (and Doug).  The original post clearly mentioned the possibility of going to "Ground Zero".  There were some replies that were clearly off topic but the majority were about going down the Blue Ridge Parkway toward Ground Zero.  

Threads on the message board, and truly any message board, tend to be a discussion and not a single, "I have a question," and one, "Here's your answer."  It appeared to me that as much as reasonably possible responders tried to address the original question but the discussion did bring up other questions.

Perhaps posters who wish for their thread not to be a discussion could include a request, "Please only address my original question as I'm not really interested in participating in a discussion or reading the board and I have the perception that I personally own this entire thread. "

Don't interpret my frankness as anger I simply have a tendency to say things precisely as I see them.  I'm not angry.

I actually agree with Willow.  OK, I said it.  Ive seen hijacked threads...this is not one.  I think there is forum etiquette that may be a good thing but can be taken to a fault.  

At least no one took it to politics, religion or Harleys.  I know way more about the BRP now than before reading this thread.  I only rode a portion of it once, and I can tell you Joe is right.  Give yourself more time than youd normally think, you will need it.

What you said! I think to some extent most post get "hi-jacked"? Someone will mention something that offers something off the main topic to be injected into a conversation. Happens on every forum I'm a member of. I don't think it will ever change?

I have a good level of respect for you and appreciation for what you have provided and endured in this life.

I know you didn't intend any BS.  It's just that your expectations and mine are sometimes different.  Castigation over poorly perceived expectation falls into my definition of BS, intended or otherwise.

I think six2go got the answers he was looking for and seems pleased with "his" thread.

Good call on the advice.  I really don't usually take advice to the general satisfaction of the sender and I hate to see you waste your efforts.

But when the original poster does not come back with anything else, or follow-on questions, or indicates he's still confused or stuck or even satisfied, then the thread at that point often morps off from the original inquiry into a somewhat related issue.  To me, this is not a hijack.  

If you want YOUR thread to stay on track, come back and keep it on track with active participation.  If you don't come back, people can only assume you have your answer.   If you are done, others should feel free to pick up the ball and run with it.

This is not Robert's Rules, it's rugby (and certainly more entertaining).

Exactly! I got the answers that I needed with the 1st two responses by Britman & Jess. I didn't come back to the thread until I was notified it had been hijacked. Solo 1 & I had a couple of good natured email exchanges about it but for some reason, being the good friend that he is, it got him fired up pretty good and he felt the need to come to my aid. Anyway, I don't have any animosity towards anyone who jumped in on an abandoned thread. I actually learned more than what I originally asked.
I think we can let both of these threads "die on the vine" so to speak.
