I am on my first car tire. I started out with 36 psi then tried 32psi and now am at 28psi. I liked the feel and handling at 36 and 32 but after 10,000 miles I started to see that the center of the tread is wearing quite a bit more than the outside. The center is worn over 1/2 way. I lowered the pressure to get it to wear on the outside, but now it feels a little mushy. Did I do the right thing by lowering the pressure?

I run 34-38 and see fairly even wear.

I run 26-28, and love the ride and tire wear.  Some run up to 65#!  WOW

Long, long ago I had a 52 Harley Panhead / rigid frame. If they had tubeless tires I hadn't heard of them. I would lower the rear tire air pressure (really low) for a tiny bit of suspension . No shocks on the rear but always a new inner-tube with every tire change.

I have run my toyo 205/55-15 at 32psi since new.  It now has 32k on it, has worn evenly and is due for replacement.

I run a Michelin Primacy "V" rated tire, and found 33 psi _hot_ does the trick for me. Cold pressure is down around the high 20's (~28 psi).

I would note that my tire pressure varies by up to 4-5 psi from start of day to being on the road for an extended period of time. If your stated pressure is it's cold pressure, then it could be running at a higher pressure after you've been on the road for a while, which may contribute to the tread wear.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but I'm looking at putting my first car tyre on and from the specs of the few tyres that i can find down here (Australia - home of the camel killers  ) it looks like they have a minimum rim width of 5.5". What width is the Valk rim? I thought it was only 5". Will this be a problem? Looking at a Yokohama V550 or S-Drive.

I put 34psi in mine,, the reason the center of the tread wears more on a MC with a car tire is that the centrifical (sp?) force bulges the middle of the tire out more on a bike than it does on a car. Thus wearing the center out first. There was a good video of a Gold Wing with an under mounted camera showing this on you tube.

I have mine at 36 or 38 psi. Last week we were fully loaded and it looked low. Couldn't find my gauge and no other bikers had one. I put some in it till it looked good. Found my gauge and it blew up on me.  Figured for a faulty gauge. After a few hundred miles and a next day I checked it with a real gauge and it showed 50 psi!  It rode really good for that amount. But I lowered it down to 38.

This is a very interesting thread.  I have about 1200 miles on a Potenza G019 Grid.  Like it alot.  Started out at 36, dropped it to 34, then 32 now at 30.  I took the pressure after riding for awhile and it was 34.  I think I will stay at 30 cold pressure, handles well and is comfortable.  i think the key is the pressure after  you ride awhile.  Good luck, to each his own.

I'm thinking I'll have to increase my cold pressure, because 26-27 lbs results in more squiggly-ness than I care for in my ride. But 30-33 is absolutely great!
