Yep, you read right.  What's next, all convertibles?  I love America but stuff like this really puts a burr in my shorts.

Just think of those bikes duck walking, wobbling, over revving, falling over.

Not a good way to portray motorcyclists.  :D

Might be another decision based on over revving straight through exhausts on motorcycles.

I wonder how long McKinney TX bans motorcycles from city streets altogether?

Ferndale and Berkley MI banned all motorcycles from residential streets a few years back.

ABATE and the AMA fought long and hard and for quite some time to get these stupid ordanances reversed.

sort of related, but our small town banned throwing candy and squirt guns and water balloons thinking too dangerous, does that count?  I've always found a few squirts of water or tossing water balloons in front of kids on a hot 90 degree parade refreshing.  As far as candy tossing, could poke an eye out ya know MUST hand the candy to everyone now - so lame!

They do allow though the shriners to do the figure 8's still in their old school go-karts and small Honda ATV's which I always found VERY scary always close calls with them every single year NEAR misses.

Sometimes you gotta wonder what the elected officials are thinking?  :uglystupid2:

Thanks all.  I think if you are a motorcyclist, this should bother you.  ABATE has been notified.

It's not an ordinance, just a rule made up this year by one or more confused city "officials".

It sure appears that this would be noise related, and if so, I can understand their decision.

If it is, let the regular bikes attend.

I agree, whatever a normal bike is.

And, I once liked loud exhaust. Ran open exhausts on many things. I guess age causes weird changes in preferences. Some bikes are so loud they are obnoxious.

The reason throwing out candy gets banned, is because it has happened that little kids run out in the street, and get run over by floats following.  I am sure it is rare.

I would almost bet that the problem is straight through exhausts.

Yes, the AMA has fought this discrimination for a long time.  The AMA also has tried to get riders to tone down their exhaust too.  The AMA has also come up with a fair test that allows modified exhausts but not straight pipes.  It has been rejected by the "Loud Pipes Save Lives' riders.

It seems to me that AMA's resources would be better spent fighting other unrealistic laws and ordinances.
Laws like mandatory helmet wearing and traffic stops only for motorcycles.

Every state has laws against no mufflers.  Riders ignore them.   We have met the enemy and they are us with apologies to what's his name. :)

I think that would read from moving vehicles. Reason: Kid was run over during a parade trying to fetch candy being thrown from a moving vehicle. I believe it was a fire truck (???) but don't really remember. Been a few years back. We don't throw candy from trucks anymore, we have walkers.

Yeah, me too.

A couple of weeks ago on the Warriors ride we were behind this "little-guy syndromed" HD rider (synonym?) with his "ole lady" and EVERYTIME he passed a crowd he'd rack up his HD and keep it revved for a good half-block!
It was really annoying after 10-12 times!!!

Before we escorted the busses we were asked not to rev engines because a lot of the Warriors had PTSD and loud, unexpected noises could affect some, I guess this guys engine was too loud and he didn't hear that request... or maybe his little guy syndrome couldn't allow him not to.

As stated in a previous post: We are our own enemy!
Remember, if you are on a bike and wreck with a car no matter how "in the right" you are you are going to lose. RIDE LIKE EVERBODY IS OUT TO GET YOU!!
