installing screaming banshee horn on 99 I/S

Hey guys.

I'm going to install a screaming banshee horn system on my 99 I/S. This system also flashes the head light high beams. On a I/S the head lights are controled by relays. One for low and one for high. Where are those relays located? I looks like I have four of them in front of the battery box behind the over flow tank. Is this where thay are located? If so which one is the high beam?

Ricky, The word flash was probably used instead of modulate. Modulating lights are legal in all 50 states.

Chet "rattlebars" had a mod that flashed lights with the horn.  It worked with the turn signals.  Someone could have modified the circuit to work with the headlight or spots.  Chet says, "not a good idea" to flash the white lights and explains. I don't see this offers an advantage over a Signal Dynamics modulator and a Wolo Bad Boy compact air horn as separate items.

I hate to make another "unresponsive" response to your question about the location of the high beam relay, but I don't know. Something to think about if you haven't made your purchasing decision yet:

I installed a Wolo air horn and the Signal Dynamics headlight modulator and they work together to flash the high beam without needing to know anything about the high-beam wiring and its relay. The Signal Dynamics modulator has an input for the horn voltage and automatically flashes your headlights brighter when you sound your horn. A double-tap on the horn also changes the headlight modulation from medium to maximum, both of which are DOT approved flashing levels. I liked that all the signals for the horn/headlight integration were easily found near the headlight and I didn't have to cut into my harness.

Hey guys,

I never did find the stock I/S head light relays. I would still like to know were they are located. If anyone knows?

I did install the controler in the left side of the fairing. This is where I wired in the stock horn and high beam. I mounted the banshee (Wolo) horn where the fuel shut off switch was at. I have the delay so I can still use the stock horn. The delay was the thing that I wanted most. At first I had the Wolo horn and high beam go off and on together while the stock horn stayed on. I did not like the Wolo going off/on. So I changed it to on solid after the delay. I like this much better. This Banshee setup only works with the horn and high beam working together as flash or no flash and the stock horn working as delay or no delay.

I have asked myself if last year when a guy turned left in front of me in the middle of no were would this setup have helped or hurt we. I was on the stock horn and brakes hard enough to cause the rear wheel to lock and still did not have enough room to stop. I had to get off the brakes and do a hard left into on comming tracffic to avoid him. The whole time praying "For God's sake don't stop now!" If he would have heard or saw me part way through his turn and stopped I might not be here. But then if he would have seen or heard me and stoped before he started to turn then it would have been no problem to stay in my lane and go around him on the right.
