Hello everyone. I just came to Bristol VA on Friday to do a quick weekend run to the snake and yesterday had a problem. I had a new rear tire put on by my local dealer in Indiana right before I left and yesterday my rear wheel bearing started squeaking and I can feel it rumbling. I also see a very minor ammount of lithium grease slung outward on my rear rim. The local Honda dealer closest to me is Atlas Honda. Anyone had any experience with them? I was supposed to go home today but the dealer is closed and opens Monday so looks like that is my best bet. Think I am going to have them pick up the bike since they are 4 miles away and I am afraid to ride due to further damage. Any advice you can give me is appreciated. I am stuck at the red carpet inn in Bristol till I get it fixed. Thanks

It's quite possible they didn't put the thrush washer back in, this is a hard ABS, plastic looking washer that goes between spline and the bearing, these do fall out sometimes during a wheel change un-noticed...if left out the spline will rub against the bolts that hold the dampers in...when they pull the wheel look for rub marks on the bolts...good luck..

Thanks Highbinder,, I will have them ck that. I rode the snake yesterday from Bristol to the Blue Ridge and up the Ridge to us 21 to 58 then back to Bristol. The snake has nothing over 58 back to Bristol. Awesome ride.

Did this repair once in a Motel parking lot in San Augustine Fl.  No tools, no jack, but did have a spare bearing in the saddlebag.  Same deal, weekend and no dealers open.  Was a bitch but goterdone.  This was at one of the early Inzanes, before it was called Inzane I think.  Was down there with Psycho and Valkyrie John, Psycho had already headed west in pursuit of F6gal and I had lost John.  Next day when I managed to locate him I got the news that his rear bearing went south.  I was in Talahasee and rode back to the rescue.  Wow brings back fond memories of the early days.

How close are you to the Inzane site?  There are a couple hundred folks there right now who can probly help you out.  Hoser

Yep,, I would have went to Izane but cannot get there now. Going to Atlas in the morning to see if they can take care of me.

Well, Atlas Honda was great.
Progressive picked up the bike as part of my insurance, and took it to Atlas Honda. It was the rear wheel bearings and they had them in stock and fixed it. The folks at Atlas were great.
The race was really stuck in the hub, but the mechanic was great.

Got on the bike and rode 600 miles home.
Now for a cold home brew beer.
