First ride of the year

After suffering a broken ankle on Good Friday I have been itching to get out on the bike.
Went to the hospital yesterday, had my cast removed, an x-ray and the all clear to come home.

The quack suggested taking a walk on a sandy beach as sort of physio and to strengthen the muscles. Out of the hospital and 20 minutes later I'm paddling in the sea.

After I got home and had a quick shower I hobbled off to the garage, sat on the bike and stamped on the rear brake, excellent, no pain.
Back indoors I got on the phone and booked the ole girl in for the yearly UK inspection.

I left 1 1/2 hours before the test, took my time and the long way. It was so nice being back in the saddle. The bike flew through the test, no advisories and plenty of nice comments from the tester.

Took the long way home too.
The leg and ankle felt ok, although when I took my boot off it did balloon up a bit.

The only disappointment was my bike trousers and my jacket have shrunk over the winter, especially the trousers. I had to give up and put some jeans on.
I can't believe it, I paid $75 for the trousers and they bloody shrunk. The jacket was very tight as well, but I managed to zip it up, it was like a corset holding my coffee belly in.

Now it's time to put some miles on the beast, bring it on. :cooldude:

More riding and less sitting should unshrink your gear ;)

Glad you got a ride in.
Good for you, it's been sitting a while and no carb. or battery issues is good.
From my experience with a broken ankle, I'd be careful of walking on the beach. I broke many years ago and it can still roll on me when on unstable/uneven ground. I have to wear ankle height boots every day for extra support.
I'm certainly not a Dr. but would hate to see you go through what I did by re-injuring it again.
Congratulations on your healing and your ride :cooldude:
If you can't be a good example: be a WARNING!!
