Here's our take on Harley's V Rod. Great looks and engine, but not a patch on the Valkyrie...

I always thought "if I was to own a Harley, it would be a V-rod"

Honda's RC-51 was light yrs ahead of that v-rod thing.
RC-51, 10s in the 1/4 stock, plus it handled and braked like a race bike.
plus the engined didn't need to be dropped to adjust the valves like v-r.

While the engine is smooth and powerful I was not comfortable on the bike. It is not made for taller riders or long rides in my opinion. Almost bought it till the test ride.

Looks to be a wrench's worst nightmare. Did they assemble the frame around the engine?

In 2008 capacity went up to 1250cc and power was increased to 125bhp and a slipper clutch was added. Transmission for all models is via a five speed box with power delivered to the back wheel via a toothed belt.

I looked the internet over and could not find out about the V-Rod Valve Adjustment requiring the

engine be removed from the frame to do it.

One video showed the rocker boxes off, but they could not complete the valve adjustment

due to the frozen or rusted machine thread.

They told the customer the motor sounded ok, valves were quiet. Did not want to remove the

motor for one bad screw hole. Acted like the valve adjustment could be performed without

motor removal. But that was only my interpretation.

engine is dropped, as in front mounts and engine support cradle dropped to ground while that back support is used as a pivot point, allows just enough access to remove valve covers. HD dealers want $500-700 to do it.

great engine that was not designed by HD, terrible bike designed by HD, from a so so company selling way over priced bikes with nice paint jobs and sparkily chrome, to entice the ego driven part of the brain also know as easily led fine Americans.
