My speedo quit today. 200 miles ago I put on a new front tire. 115 k miles on my 98 Tourer.
I'll check the cable tomorrow if that is ok I might need some help.
I'll post my findings.

It can really only three things.
Cable
Drive
Speedo Head

The speedo heads very seldom go bad, I don't think I've heard of one doing so.
The most likely culprit is the cable, but, the drive could certainly be bad.

Be careful of the cable to drive retainer screw, don't over tighten it.

If you just changed the front tire, did you get the speedometer gearing set with the nub BEHIND the nub on the fork?  If not it may have rotated and caused the problem.
DARE TO BE DIFFERENT

Yes I did today when I saw there wasn't a reading I stopped and checked the cable connection.

Today I found a broken inner cable it's been ordered. Asked my independant bike shop if I needed a speedo
would they match HDL's online price. The parts person looked at the price I had written down. She did a couple
of keystrokes on the parts screen and said sure.
Mine shows 15k I'm thinking about a new one.
