Terry & Troy, Update...

I just received a text/update from Terry... They spent the night in Amarillo, and they dined at the Texas Steak Ranch. He said it was fun, but it just wasn't Alberta beef... whatever that means. Hope they didn't say that to any of the locals. Apparently he don't know how proud of their beef them Texans are... Oh well, you can learn so much on the road...

They plan to be in Colorado Springs tonight... possibly Denver. Appears them boyz are havin' a large time discovering our part of the continent. Hey Misfit... If ya spot two lost looking Canadians wandering through, give 'em a hand, will ya? They be friends of mine...

So, did Terry manage to get his Valk shipped to him, or is he on your VTX, or what?

He's on my VTX... They were just not able to make the commercial transport of his Valk to Wetumpka happen (apparently Customs had reservations about his motives for wanting to do so...?).

Early-on he'd agreed to my original offer to fly him home; later, he and Troy decided it might be better if they rented a vehicle to carry Troy's F6B and the two of them took turns driving back. The thought behind this was so that Troy wouldn't have to make the return trip solo.

I'd also offered to let him just ride my VTX so they could continue their epic journey... I think the combination of riding all the way to Asheville then to Wetumpka has turned those two into gen-u-ine road warriors... He took me up on the offer to ride mine back up yonder once he got here (everyone who saw his face also saw that choice coming!). Be patient, I'll wager there will be a yarn or two to be shared once they're back home!!!

Terry sent me two pics via a text last night that were taken at Pikes Peak yesterday... Them boyz are livin' it up out yonder!!! Good on 'em, and I'm mighty proud of 'em fer doin' so... (Sorry! I have no idea how to include them here.)

My guess is this is the first major bike trip for either of them... Seeing all that goes with that is mighty gratifyin' to those of us who've felt the joy of new discoveries and experiences in that way ourselves... One of them vicarious thrill thingys, I reckon...

BTW... The Customs hang-up issue is more informed speculation than actual knowledge at this point... Terry did say he didn't really know why his bike didn't ship, and that he won't get the full skinny until he gets home. Alas, he still is making the road trip, though, so all is well... I have no idea what might come next for those two (I suggested Rocky Mountain National Park)... but I'm anxiously awaiting updates!

Bruce I'm glad they are having a large time. Great people and they deserve a great trip home for what was done. Terry for Ali and Troy for making the trip with his buddy to bring her to you. Tell them to enjoy the  rest of there ride for me. Can not say enough good for two guy's like that.

Got another text... They're near Cody, WY, tonight... He said they got caught in some serious hail, so not many miles today... He also said that the weather was starting to remind him of home now... COLD! Maybe we need to send some more positive waves in their direction...?

I asked him where they might be headed next... He replied that they were considering that right then... They are making their plans on a daily basis, and then they're changing them on the fly as they go... Riders after my own heart!!!
