Darsider Tires?

Ok I have been running a DS for awhile now and I am in need of a new tire due to picking up a used blade from a boxcutter cutting a real nice gash thru the center of the tire. Plus I already have a plug in this one as well.

Any suggestions on what to replace it with? as they don't make the Falken 205/65/16 anymore, or so I have been told. I loved the handeling and ride of this tire si I would want something similar if possible. What's the newest best tire that u guy's have found?

Chasing BigAl and T-Bird at 90mph in the rain thru Mississippi it stuck really good
and handles better than the Avon and Metzler I have run in the past

(I cant vouch for high speed in twisties cause I dont do that, I have to catch up on the straightaways)

Cant find the Battleaxe anymore its been discontinued.

I am down in FL now for 20 yrs, I lived off Crotona & 187th close to Arthur Av, Home of the best Italian food on Earth !! I still go up to Da Bronx 2 times a year just to eat and visit family.

I used to run the Bridgestone Battle-axe and loved the ride/handling, although I never saw more than 10k out of it. I liked it, and the price was right.
  I researched the tire you mentioned and the reviews are all very good. I will try that next in the 200/60/16. It's $30.00 less than the Avon I'm currently running and the reviews are better. The $30.00 saved will go towards mounting.

For those running the Austone Taxi tire be aware that this tire needs more air than what most folks are running in car tires.

You usually see anywhere from 30-40 psi in standard car tires but the tall sidewall of the narrow taxi tire needs more air pressure to stablize it.

The max cold on the tire is 55 psi.

Run it at 45 - 50 psi and you'll be fine, much less than that and you may experience a wobble starting around 85-90 mph.

I learned of this on the Goldwing boards and tested it myself, I concluded they were correct and I run mine at 45 psi.    Have tested to 120 indicated with no wobble.   At 40 psi I had a wobble at 90 and that was noticeable and at 100 was butt puckering.

I have around 10k on mine now with hardly any noticeable wear.   Running at the higher pressure doesn't seem to be causing it to wear in the middle.   I run twistys fairly hard and the edges of the tread will be worn out before the center is gone.

While the 912 is being used by some on this site, I believe he was talking about my favorite Falken, the Ziex 512.  I have 2 left, which means I have about 2 years until I have to research a different tire.

You can have your Dunlops and Avons.  I feel my Goodyear TT is much safer than the Avons I used to ride on.

A good darkside "Rain" tire is very nice on a wet road !
