Looking to install either a truck or train air horn on my Interstate & would like to see/hear (if possible) what other owners have installed on their bikes.

I'll be in Sturgis for the rally in a week & would like to get one installed out there if I can find a vendor that sells/installs them.

Any & all help is appreciated - thx guys!

Having an air horn on one of the interstates and on the wife's tourer I would get big bf's quad horns every time. Volume and sound are great.

Once again, in case you haven't seen this.  My horn was featured in Motorcycle Cruiser Feb '03 IIRC.

How to install it.  I don't know anyone doing this commercially, but a bunch of riders have used this article and installed it.

Forget air horns. Get BigBFs quad horns. They're hidden and louder.

Well that's nice with your loyalty and all, but no, they are not louder. That's easy to prove with a decimal meter. BigBF is a nice guy, and I applaud his work and his operation.  But for volume - there is no comparison.  This is the same Grover horn they put on fire trucks.  Ever hear a fire truck horn?  As far as hidden - good idea if they don't look good.  I get nothing but compliments on my horn.  And I'm not selling these either.  Have no interest in whatever horn you get.  The fact is, this is the loudest horn you can put on a bike, reasonably. Yes it is more expensive than anything else, and more work to install.  You get what you pay for, here. I almost installed a 3-chime train horn which would have been louder no doubt - an ACTUAL train horn.  But not really reasonable, and in fact, illegal in a lot of states including here. Then I came across this trumpet and replaced the Hadley bells on the Hadley air system - this is much louder and a very deep tone.  Not to mention the air system is pretty handy - I have air suspension and can fill tires w/o carrying a portable compressor or CO2 carts.

stebel nautilus or wolo bad boy or howards dual trumpet horns are other options as well.

Anything is louder than the wimpy stock horn and will do the job all a matter what you want and can afford.

Stebels and Rivcos and Quad Horns are all similarly loud... plenty loud...

Those horns like MarkTs are probably as loud as the one on the back
of Sinkhead's bike... crazy loud...

Quad horns pour out of a box and bolt on  ;) ...

MarkT's setup works great for a standard or tourer, but the pods on an IS are in the way, that is why I mounted mine cross bike on the rear of my IS.

I agree. BigBF's quads would literally move my pant legs if I hit the horn button with my feet on the ground. That is what you call serious sound pressure. The secret to his horns isn't just volume, they're LOUD, but the omnidirectional sound waves they project.

I used to have fun in parades, hit the horn and watch people fall off the curb.

These are the best horns by far for warning cagers!!!... especially lane drifters that are alongside you.

Best thing I ever put on my Valk.

There is another possibility, I have a belly tank so BF horns are out and I really did not want horns showing on my bike so I use the fiaam ones or any generic brand that actually has 2 horns and a compressor from like Advanced auto parts or any other parts store. I mounted them under the side covers and there is just enough room to mount the compressor and then stuff the horns in. They are loud enough that I have never had people not hear, they are not seen either. Just another option.

If your going to be at the rally, there is usually a booth that displays a variety of horns.   In the past its been on the North side of Lazelle St.  I use the Wolo Badboy on my Tourer.  Some of us here have installed Mopar electric car horns.

+1

I had BigBF install a set on my std. in Frisco.  And take the air horn off.  He was smiling when I got back.  He installed the quads, AND left the air horn on!

Awesome!

Ask Hoser.

If only one, I would go with the quads.

I emailed BigBF & he told me he won't be in Sturgis.  I'd really like to get one installed while I'm out there.

You've waited this long wait a couple months more. Show at inzane and have them installed then  :cooldude:

A "couple" of months being 10-1/2 months from now.

The least expensive and easiest move to a louder horn is the Wolo Bad Boyz miniatures.  The electrical system on a Valk will support two of them if one isn't enough for you.

You can do it for yourself.  Use a relay and direct power.  The relay should utilize the circuit of the original horn.

On an Interstate if you don't have pod lights you can hide the Wolos in the pods.

MarkT's air horn is the loudest. (thats a period there) First time I heard it my ears bled. The second time I heard it was along with everyone on the Pikes Peak mountain. Not just in the vicinity.. everyone on the mountain heard it. LOL

As for me and my horn I like the Wolo BadBoy air horn. One piece unit, 120+ decibles, mounts nicely under the fuel valve.

I installed them myself, no biggie there. He had the instructions online.
No air compressor or hoses. Utilize the relay that is included and you are good to go.
