Texas Ranger

Sorry I haven't been on the board for a LONG time but after my near fatal wreck on Freedom, I went into withdrawals. Plus we have been working our butts off on our new home in east Texas.
To catch you up to date for those new members I totaled my 99 I/S last October and spent 6 weeks recovering from a broken elbow and miles of 3rd degree burns and road rash on my skinny body.
The other driver was at fault when he turned across a 4 lane divided highway in front of me. He was a motorcycle rider also, only he was in a truck!!
I had the choice of t-boning him or laying down Freedom, I laid her down!
I was pleased at the settlement they gave me for Freedom $13,630.
Then came the settlement for my injuries and lost time. They came through with no problems.
He had Texas Farm Bureau Insurance, they were good to me.
Catfish and I went to Valkyricks and Sharons wedding this past Saturday and saw Wanderer and Lemon Drop and Boom Boom, it was good seeing all of them.
I probably will not get another motorcycle, I am at an age that if I considered getting another on, it would probably be a GW Trike. My knee is bad and will have it replace next year before I retire next July.
If you are ever in east Texas around Winnsboro give us a call and come visit, it would be good to see all of you again
Our addy there is 854 CR 4590 Winnsboro, Tx. 75494
Sorry again for not being on the board and keeping in touch but, we have been VERY busy since we bought our place there.

TR, it's good to hear from you. Glad you're getting mended after the mishap. I can understand the work on another home. It's always like that when ya buy something else. Take care of yourself and continue to heal, get well.

..

Hi Don. Good to see you posting.  :cooldude:

Wingman

Great to see you posting TR! I hope you do well in your retirement.

As I've said many times, to ride or not to ride is a personal decision. Don't be a stranger!

Gilligan

Hi, TR.  I'm glad to hear you're healed up and got a settlement you think is fair.

I have sold my Valk on eBay and bought a Prius.  Long story ... but basically, I am at the age where 2-up, long-distance touring is not the right thing to do.  If you are ever near Evansville, Indiana, please give us a call.  You have an open invitation to stop over at our "B&B."

I can feel your pain Don, having experienced a similar situation back in Nov on Lady Red. Not our faults, some clown in a cage not knowing what he was doing but we got in their way.... I am glad that you are doing alright.
It is tuff I know, trying to get back in the saddle, you with knee problems, me with ankle and wrist problems. Just this past weekend a few buddies tried helping me find my MoJo and it was difficult. reliving the accident while in sweeps and backing off when i should have been accelerating; trust me I know how you feel. It is not easy emotionally let alone physcially.
Whatever you decide to do your thoughts and decission will be respected because of who you are. :cooldude:

Don , I understand where you are coming from; BUT, retiring brings a lot of free time. I retired in 95 and got back on bikes in 02 after being off since 1990. Should have done it in 95 1/2  ;) What ever , best of LIFE to you.  :cooldude: The door will not close for you to ride again as long as you think  "YOUNG"

Good to hear from you TR !!  Glad your accident wasn't even worse. you can replace a bike if you want to.  GW Trikes are very cool, IMHO anyway.........
I think I should have no other mortal wants, if I could always have plenty of music. It seems to infuse strength into my limbs and ideas into my brain. Life seems to go on without effort, when I am filled with music.

TR,

Glad to hear from you. I always enjoyed yours and Catfishes company at the rides and meetings. I guess we are neighbors in that I also bought a place in East Texas last year. I bought a farm down in Cooper Texas back last September. I still have my Valkyrie but really don't get to ride much due to work and time at the farm. Give me a call sometime and let's catch up.

That GW trike Idea should be considered part of your recovery  8). your body will heal with care, but the ride and the open road is the best therapy for mind and soul after such an event. Just my experience. Glad your back and hope you stay safe regardless. :cooldude:

Thanks to all of you for your kind words.
We miss riding that is for sure, and we miss the fellowship of all of the friends we have made over the past 5 years in the VRCC.
Having been in the VRCC has been a great time and experience. We have truly enjoyed being in the family of great people such that are in the VRCC,  many thanks to all of you for showing Catfish and I such a great time in our lives.
Thanks again for your kind words, all of you!

See you soon and hang around more often - it ain't about the ride - it's about the people.  :cooldude: :cooldude: :cooldude:
