Home from the Coast Ride

     It was good to see Mike and Greg at IHOP.  Four of us, Big Mac, One Way Wayne, Steve and my self, made up the group. We had a great ride. Tempretures were cool. We had lunch in Cambria at the usual barbeque place.  They have a great tritip sandwich.  We rode by Hearst Castle, and then stopped to checked out the elephant seals. Traffic was a little heavy, but not bad. There wasn't as many bicyclists as in past runs so that was good. We stopped and took the usual pictures at Bixby Bridge.  We got into Gilroy about 6. Dinner was at Dennys. I just got a piece of pie as I was still pretty full from lunch.
     Mapper, Fordmano, and Susan met us for breakfast, again at Dennys. It was  nice to meet with Valkyrie riders from Central California.
    Wayne, Steve, and I took Hwy 25 south to the end, then picked up Hwy 58, across to Button Willow.  Those were both Great roads and more fun than the coast, lots of curves and no traffic. That would make a really nice ride in the spring when everything is green. I hopped on the 5 Frwy and headed for home.  Steve and Wayne continued on 58. Arrived home at 7:30, 780 miles. Thanks Dave. Your bike sure looked good.

It was good to see a few of the guys at breakfast. I didn't get to say a proper hello or goodbye to Mike, sorry about that Mike I didn't realize you weren't going on the ride with the group. Richard and I had a pretty good ride. We rode up Highway 154 and I introduced Richard to Cold Springs Tavern. We then rode the ridge route (East Camino Cielo) above Santa Barbara. I've taken a few of the people from the club on this road in the past and it was in really bad shape, most of the road has been repaved so it was a great motorcycle ride. We dropped down off the mountain and into southern Santa Barbara but rather than jumping on 101 we stayed on 192 all the way west to Highway 150 and on to Ojai. I did have the pleasure of paying $5.60 a gallon for fuel in Montecito.  After a leisurely stop for lunch at the Deer Creek Lodge and it was back down Highway 150 through the orange groves to Simi Valley and home. It's the first time I've taken back country roads from north of Santa Barbara all the way to the house. I didn't know it could be done and I'm looking forward to doing it again.

Made it home today around 10:30am. I rode in from Exeter early to beat some of the heat. Put a total of 1200 miles and the bike of course ran great the whole time. Looking to plan a local ride next month.

Glad you guys had a good ride . Met a friend of yours today. Was coming back to work from lunch and he came over and introduced himself. Can't remember his name for the life of me . I think they said they are from Redlands and they have a 2nd home here. Real nice guy.

That was Ken you met. I've known him for about 14 years. He hangs out at Highland Cycle now and then. He rides a ST1300 now but has had goldwings in the past. I told him about you when he mentioned that he saw a green interstate at the grocery store in Havasu.
