The home renovation project progresses (Non-Valk related...not political either)

I don't know how many of you may have ever taken on a major renovation project but any of you who have may likely see some of yourselves in this blog post. Any of you who haven't, should you read it, may decide to never tackle one.  ;D

But needless to say, while the progress seems slow, the progress is happening. My ultimate goal is to get to the point where I can build a garage for the Phat Gurl (okay, now it's Valk related  ;) ).

I've been thinking of building a 2 car standard garage in my backyard taking up almost 1/2 the city lot in my backyard for my cycle and fishing boat and ATV trailer with 2 atv's vs. craming it all in a 2-car garage and sitting our more expensive vehicles in the driveway.

Am sure it would take me all summer vs. only a few weeks if hired out the labor.  Sometimes time is money and is true.  Yah, I could do it taking several months (all summer probably), but for a few grand more in labor I can have it done in 1 month or less.

Then again,  I would not have the personal internal enjoyment of knowing I accomplished such a major task pretty much on my own.

Nice work Dale

But is the Valk working ok yet??

Oss, it still has the ticking sound. No worse but no better. I ride some but lately I've been pretty consumed with the house, the house, and nothing but the house. Before we get the Fall cool down I'm going to send her to the shop for a going over and have them check out the ticking sound.

Daniel, I checked out your blog post on the house. I actually have a pipe wrench that looks a lot like the one you wrote about. Did it with my own two hands, two feet, and really put my back into it, but I did indeed bend what the manufacturer claims cannot be bent. No cheater bar (because us big guys don't need no stinkin' cheater bar to bend a lousy little pipe wrench-that's my story and I'm sticking to it  :D)

A very nice craftsman style home. I had the house I am currently residing in built and discovered a new house is just as much work as an older house, the older houses just have so much more character.
Life is about the ride, not the destination.

Very nice work.... and motivation.  :cooldude:

I don't ever want to do it myself.

For the last 10 years or so, my answer to creeping home decrepitude is to keep the lights low.   ;D

Subdued lighting forgives a multitude of sins. When that fails, put a plant in front of it. Works wonders.  :cooldude:
