I've never used ape hangers, so I don't know. But aren't those uncomfortable? Seems like you would have less leverage also.

I've seen them mounted but, I never got a chance to talk to the owners of the Valkyries. I had a set of 12 "mounted on another bike and they we're find .  I knew I guy that had 16 " on his fat boy. After a 100 miles he was asking someone if they  wanted to ride his bike. Did see at sturgis this year a cream color Valkyrie had a set of 12 - 16" apes on his .

I believe G-man has baby apes on his.  You would need to replace some cables and lines.

Michigan used to have a handlebar law that may still be a law. The distance from the lowest point of the grip to the lowest point of the seat had to be less than 15 inches. It was about the ape hangers but the custom seats made to follow the rigid frame and only 2 inches thick would fail almost any lift at all in the handlebars.
This was in the 1970's.

Mini apes are doable (if you are tall enough).

There are also Hog Deuce (knockoff) risers which are 5.5" up and back, instead of the OE 3 1/8".

Both require some mods, but the deuce can be done without longer cables.

If you want mini apes (or other handlebars), remember Hogs (and Kawasaki) have 3.5" center-to-center riser hole spacing, Honda (Valk) is 100mm (4 inch) riser spacing.  Many bars are knurled where the riser clamps go to hold them tight, so you want 100mm spacing of knurling.

For comparison purposes, the Valk's bars have the following measurements:

IMHO, I don't think they look right on a Valk....but to each their own.

If you only need a little bit more rise, you could do higher risers like what Jess linked to...or you could try a set of riser extentions......like these....

Thanks for the complement.     It used to be a Red & White standard before I gave it a makeover. 

I didn't much like the bars either when I first bought it, but I losened the mounts and turned them up some.  Works much better for me. 

Although turning the bars more upward helped alot, I'd still like for them to be about an inch higher. 

I bought a set of those 1" riser adapters that I linked to on eBay earlier this summer, but cancer, a month long hospital stay and a recovery period have gotten in the way of me installing them.  I'll get to them soon though.   

btw.....That 2nd pic of that black Valk is a local bike that I've seen several times before.  I don't know what size his apes are, but on that Valk, they just don't look right IMHO.  They're too much for it.

A couple years back I rode a friend's Valk with 16" on it, he bought that way. I found it a PITA, especially getting it off the side stand, you don't have the same leverage  as with lower bars. I imagine a person could get accustom to it if you want the look bad enough. I found it uncomfortable.

I agree 16 inches is way too high and was look better if they were shorter that way they could be in the same line as the forks. I would like to get away with not having to change my cables if I can do so.

I like the break peddle setup the black valk has got for the highway pegs...I wonder if the other side has a shifter mechanism of similar value... I'd much rather more information on those..
