Gee, and you just learned about this. I'm shocked that you believe it.

We did beat the British twice, just barely.

Jess from VA;
It sounds like the founding fathers' struggle for independence was in Vane. Of course not... but if you'd like
you can always move to England and support their invasion of our country. :-X

there is still a scorched spot on an exterior wall. James and Dolly barely got away to avoid capture, we don't know what kind of historical artifacts were lost. the walls were 3 feet thick and made of stone, but the wooden interior all burned until all that was left was a shell.

now to the weird side......

they say there is a ghost of a british soldier that still walks the halls of the white house. I don't know if anyone famous has seen him.....

supposedly the ghost of Lincoln still roams around too, Winston Churchill told a story of being a guest in the Lincoln bedroom and when he came out of the shower still nekkid he claimed to see Lincoln standing by the fireplace looking in morosely.

Churchill said "Mr. President, you have me at a disadvantage." he then claimed Lincoln looked at him and disappeared.

I tend to believe that story, but, have wondered how much Churchill had to drink before or during his shower. I wish Lincoln had said something.
Churchill and LBJ were noted for walking around nekked. LBJ liked 'squirting' off the 'veranda'.
