Swingarm tool trouble

I am doing rear maintenance on my 2000 IS and was planning to look at the swing arm bearings. I ordered the swing arm tool from GB motorcycle products in England. I have not so far been able to loosen the left swing arm locknut. First the tool wants to slip out of the nut when I use pressure. I used a longer half inch drive breaker and the square drive is turning inside the tool. Seems the tool is a too lite for the job. (bending) Any ideals? Anyone had this problem? I thought with this new tool life would be easy.  Firefighter

a search will show that others who have checked those bearings have indicated no need to. they are way way over designed for their purpose. they will basically never need service or replacement.

Thanks, I have already moved forward cleaning and greasing u joint, fought the boot back on, will skip the swing arm. Seems good, no play detected. The tool I bought has started bending, wasted my money again. 31.50 pounds, don't know what that will be in dollars! Firefighter

Yep, they can be T-I-T tight. But, a whack with a punch and a BFH makes fast work of it.

The one I pulled many many many moons ago got hit with a hellish big impact.

The nut never argued, it came right off.

On those type items, I use a 6 (SIX) point socket.    Less apt to slip or slide around.

243K+, and haven't looked at it since 30K in November of 1997.

I know it was when I got out of the hospital after quad bypass, that almost killed this old Devil Dog.

I removed mine when wrecking my 99' IS just with a punch.
