There is a veteran's charity called "Hero Dogs", they provide service
dogs to disabled military veterans.

We, The Sons of Confederate Veterans, sent them $482.91 to facilitate
their good cause.

Six months after they got our check, one of their board members (Jeanie Wade)
and one of their staff members (Jennifer Lund) decided that people like me
suck so badly that it would be an embarrassment to even take our money, and
they sent it back.

If any members here (especially vets) wanted to send them a polite message
suggesting that maybe they were out of line, I know I'd appreciate it.

I am a Korean War Veteran.  I served in Korea in 1953.  Sources, with whom I'm familiar with. say that your organization refused a donation of $482.91 from Sons of Confederate Veterans.
If this is true, you have just demonstrated the epitome of political correctness and I am disturbed how your organization, which has a worthy cause, can demonstrate this apparent PC.

Veterans of the South who participated in our country's armed forces have fought for and deserve the respect AND freedom of independence.  After all, in this PC world, Mexican citizens, ON OUR SOIL, fly the flag of Mexico.  I suspect that the Stars and Bars were in the back of your mind when you made this decision to refuse the donation.

If this is indicative of the Eastern seaboard way of thinking, I'm glad that I'm a Hoosier,  Shame on You!

from the SCV commander-in-chief... I just re-read the letter, the shnubbed

I know, I know, some of you guys are squirming in your chairs.  I know some of you don't hold President Lincoln in quite the same light as some of us "Yankees" do.  But, at least to me, this shows some of the wisdom he possessed.

It's ironic Ms Wade, President of HeroDogs, has the same name as Senator Ben Wade, sponsor of the Wade-Davis Bill.  Maybe they're related?
