Well.....I went ahead an ordered a new back tire for the Valk......another Avon Cobra.......I barely have over 6,000 miles on this one.....I normally get 8-9K out of one.....better than the 5-6K that the Metz rear tires last.......until this time.....I blame it squarely on Probie....... .......at least I got a great deal..$145 with free shipping from the motorcycle superstore......

You're not alone,I was getting 14-17k out of avon venoms can't seem to get close that with cobras.Still you can't beat the handling and noise levels the avons offer.I'd love to see the venoms come back.

The most I've ever gotten out of any Avon was 9,300 miles.......according to my maintenance log.....and that was the tire that I picked up 2 woodscrews in at 200 miles.....I string plugged both holes, added some Ride-on in it, and rode it 9,100 more miles......

I guess the interstates are harder on rubber than a std or tourer.I try to spend as much time on the side treads as possible

I got Avon Cobras with 14k on them and still look pretty good and I don't ride like an old lady either 

I do have a Supervalked Interstate so I don't know if the weight difference has something to do with it.

We've had this discussion before.  I've gotten more miles on Avon Cobras by running with higher tire pressure, 44 psi cold in the rear.   My Tourer has had the same tire since mid 2013, probably 10,000 miles, and it is still good.  Will probably go to the Dark Side next.

guessing 7-8K on my cobras and agree,  the center tread is not good and should spend more time on the twisties running the sides off more.  Sides look almost new and less than 1/2 for sure in the center tread.

I think a lot besides riding style and weight of bike/riders, is the type of road compound in your state/area they use to make the roads.  I know down south by driving down there once the roads are made of different material in areas vs. just concrete and blacktop.    I would think blacktop roads would wear the tire the least.
