Got the Standard light for the I/S but I hear that the harness plugs are different... how... what to do?

Could I remove the I/S trunk, the tail light harness and the supporting hardware all together without taking it apart?

What is the hardest part of the job?  Should I get a helper?  Any other questions I should be asking?  ???

     What I did was hook the tail light behind the plug for the trunk lights.
  That way you can reconnect the trunk at anytime.
    There are only three wires one for stop, one for running and one for ground.
  When you look at it you will see how easy it rally is, just run the wire for the tail
Light in the channel up under the fender and to the connector behind the right side.
     Also you will have to do something with the Athena .

SuperValk - the term is much misused, misapplied.  A SuperValk is an Interstate which has been modified in such a way that the trunk may be removed or reattached at will in just a few minutes.  The most involved step in SuperValking is the n=modifying of the mounts so that they may easily reattach the trunk.

It appears from your posts that all you're really interested in is stripping the trunk off the Interstate.  There is nothing particularly difficult in that.  The easiest way to attach the taillight is to splice into the existing wires.  You may purchase plugs if you wish at any auto parts store.  If you choose to change out the grab rails, and you'll need to if you move the trunk to your Standard, that is an involved task.  I would suggest you try to remove and replace one bolt at a time from the fender.

Didn't have to mess with Athena.......   But I got a little rubber duckie antenna and plugged it in, then shoved the rubber part up the right side Fender rail a bit  and it's all hidden, and works so far.

Tail light assembly is due to arrive today, but I think the rubber seal doesn't come with if ordered as a unit new, so I may have to wait and order that.  Dang...

While splicing is an option, I am not certain that it is the easiest or best solution. I would suggest purchasing both pieces of the rear harness for a Standard Valkyrie if you are going to install the brake/tail light on an Interstate. These are readily available from Pinwall or you dealer for about $40. This way your OEM harness does not have to be tampered with.
