I don't believe that I met him but there's been entirely too many lately. Prayers for the family.

Tragic and hard to read....and agreed....way too much of this happening in 2014. May his family find solace and comfort in his memory.

Really hate hearing this. Didn't know him, but seems like he was a great guy to many here. Makes me wonder, why we can't stop riding. RIP, brother rider.

Damn, how many things are wrong here? Clear sunny day. The stop sign has red blinkers to attract attention. The driver didn't stop and has no insurance. Driving badly with young children in the car. Sad. There but for the grace of God's go us. RIP Richard

Sad, sad news... I don't know what to say.  He was one of the kind folks to post and welcome me to the VRCC only 10 days ago.  My sincere condolences to his family on a huge loss.  Sad day.

A tragedy.

I always enjoyed reading his thoughtful posts, although we had never met in person.

I always felt an affinity towards him, as I also am a 1946'er as well.

Heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.

Part of the reason we can't stop riding is the very fact that we are "hooked" on the riding. We-motorcycle riders-are addicted to the drug THAT IS riding. Other than that feeble attempt I cain't splain it no betta. I seem to recollect talking with him at Lacrosse. again-R I P Bro.

Everyone is different. I LOVE riding and have since I was 14. But I did stop for 10 years after 2 accidents totaling bikes and putting me in hospitals.  My wife has been riding with me for the last 3 years. If God forbid we ever have an accident I'm sure she'll never ride again, which probably means I would give it up too. It is something I hope we can continue till we aren't physically able to anymore . Every time I ride I feel young again. I'm sure most feel the same including Olddog.

I had the privledge of getting to know Rick (he will always be Old Dog to me) over the last year and a half or so. He was one of the first responders to a post I had here about getting a group together for a house share in Sturgis this year. We chatted back and forth for quite awhile. We met in person for the first time at Lewies in Lead on August 4th where all we all rallied up to head to the shared house. He was always up at the crack of dawn and was a great riding companion. Good sense of humor and personable. He was a knowledgable seasoned rider. This should not have happened. I thought I would share a recent pic of Old Dog. This is a shot of Rick with about half of our group when we were heading out to Devils Tower during the Sturgis Rally. Three riders from this forum in the pic.

Jerry,
Sorry to hear about Rick. I just now heard, must have missed your post last year. I made Inzane XV, and just saw a memorial on a Valkyrie  plate  frame for him. A guy from Texas, even.
Call me and we can get lunch at Connell again some time.

New here, ran across this thread and just wanted to say prayers to the family and all his friends.  It sounds like Rick will be missed, I hope the same can be said for me when my time comes.  Like my brother in-law says, "Life is two dates on a tombstone, it's up to you to fill in the gap."  Sounds like Rick filled the gaps well.  I would love to read some stories about him if anyone is willing to post something in his memory.
