My next door neighbor and best friend, Rick Hathaway (olddog1946), died last Sunday (Sept. 21st)while on a ride on his 2001 Valk. We usually rode together, but I was not along that day. He was riding south on Hwy. 17, about a mile from Soap Lake, Wash., when a car on Rd. 19 pulled out in front of him. Rick died at the scene. He will be greatly missed. He made friends everywhere.

The services have not yet been scheduled.

This was at the end of another post but I thought he needed his own thread as he was a regular on this and the Voai board

Agreed, maybe it's just cause I'm getting older and pay more attention to people dying now but it sure seems to be happening a lot lately tickedoff

This year has sucked! Big time for my family and the VRCC family. The loss of Hagar in Colorado, this new loss last Sunday. My brother passed away quite unexpectedly 3 months ago, still trying to work through that! A good friend in Kansas City, MO went in to the hospital for a "checkup" today. His wife was told to come back and get him around 5. They called her at 11 and said "he's passed". WTF! Sorry, but man, life is fragile. You all take care of yourselves! Tomorrow we might not be here! No guarantees!

Rick and I corresponded on this board. He came over to the Marysville area to watch his son play basketball. He called me to meet up but I was out of town. I wish I could of had that cup of coffee with him. We promised each other a ride one day. We will ride together where it never rains, gas is free, and the road never ends. RIP my brother of the wind. Our prayers and condolences to his family.

I met olddog for the first time at Inzane in Wisconsin. He was out at his bike when I pulled in and parked next to him. He greeted me with a hardy handshake and that great smile. I knew right then and there what a genuine person he was. Sorry to here this tragic news. Our prayers and condolences to his family.

Thanks for the pic Terry... Remember us talking to him out front of the motel when Taz stood the group up on the ride he claimed " I'll show you people some local roads " .  That's when we went with Hubcap and his " red book " .

Damn!   Had no idea.   Spent a lot of time in Chat talking with him.   We were gonna try an meet up in Wisc. and when that didn't happen, we made a point to schedule a meeting at the next one which is in Spearfish.   This is terrible news.    Rest in Peace.    We'll ride together eventually.
