After reading Solo1 thread this morning I knew I had to ride immediately so I did

Front tire was low on air  the valve stem cover had been off all week could not find any leak so put the cover on there air to 40 and all was right with the bike

Checked it again just before going up the goat trail and still 40 so enjoyed the perfect weather

Lots of bikes out, everyone waving, no speed awards.

To my great relief 106 is not only open but freshly paved with NO gravel anywhere

The ride up to the Tiorati circle is about 4 miles from the west of the 2 Palisades Parkway circles plus another 3 or so to the 106 circle  Its then about 5 miles down 106 thru the glacial alpine lakes.   Its my favorite ride.  40 is the speed limit. Some of you would say that is too slow, parts of the ride thats too fast decreasing radius blind turns and off camber in spots

The leaves are starting to change and in 2 weeks will be awesome.

Here is a pic from a spot at the side of Tiorati

Back in the dark pre computer summer days when I was in HS and college break we would come up here in my 57 and my friend's 73 mustang with some girls a fair amount of beer and herb and jump off some rocks about 10' above the lake,  stuff went on that I cant print here but much fun was had for a bunch of years  The water was always COLD and refreshing and the temps cooler than down in Orangeburg or Tappan.  Would always have to be back by dark as I had a night job on weekends and most days as well at the drive in.  Wish I had pics other than the ones locked in my head.   :)

Tomorrow I am gonna meet Gman and his brother in law for a ride to BBQ up on 22 near the CT border

Should be another outstanding day to be alive.

Ride safe and have fun  if you dont do it now when will you do it?

Will get the go pro ready for Oct ride report using the hemlet cam mount.

Nice ride! Snuck in there and camped overnight when younger. Riding back and forth to work for me.
Hopefully next weekend will be nice for a ride!
Woops, I'm sorry.

I went to a sleep-away camp in Harriman State Park, a couple miles down the road from Lake Tiorati.  We use to hitch hike, the whole bunk.  We got picked up once by a family in a big station wagon and another time a tractor was pulling a trailer with fencing supplies and the driver let us hang off the sides for the 2 miles.  Can you imagine that now?  The camp would be shut down.

The camp was on upper and lower cohasset lakes.  Upper lake had the swimming cribs and water sports.  On lower cohasset there were small islands that we used for overnight camping and free-time (1st hour after dinner before evening activity) partying.

Loved swimming in those lakes.  Yup, always cold and crystal clean.
