They just issued a recall on 105,000 new 2014's for clutch issues.
There's another recall on, get this, a "leak" issue... On a Harley! A leak say it ain't so....

What is it with American vehicle manufacturers of late? It seems we can't engineer a vehicle and get it right? Are we starting to make vehicles to complicated? To many gadgets?

It is discouraging.

Yep,  agree you hear more and more recalls as of late on all mfgs., especially GM.

The problem is the industry wants mroe and more new stuff and change stuff up every 3-5 years thinking the American people want change all the time.  My theory,  if it is not broke, don't fix or change it.  But, that is not what most Americans want.  Technology can be good but more and more so, is NOT, just causes tons more issues and headaches in vehicles. 

I can name dozens of examples off the tip of my tongue, but won't bore you with all the details.

I believe with out a search that most manufacturers have had recalls. There have been "issues" with vehicles since the very first ones. What we have today is the internet. NOW it's out the instantaneously. The days of the service manager and the owner of the dealership asking you to keep it under yer hat are gone. People go home and post what is wrong and wait on the company to make it "right".  And before you know we have-More News at 6.  RIDE SAFE.

   With todays technology , a device needs to be installed that will expolde a phone used for texting , and will bring the vehicle to a safe stop .

Better yet, invent technology that will instantly shut OFF the cell phone when the ignition starts whether texting or talking on cell phone should be illegal while driving even if have bluetooth although bluetooth is a good idea invented still is a distraction but not as much.  Only issue I see is NO ONE would be driving on the roads all would be pulled over onto the side of the road ignition shut off just jabbering away.  Good for me though, since I have a clear lane to get to where I am going not having to pass everyone going under 60 mph.

When I sold my Yamaha Roadliner I had to find something new to replace it.  This was last year and the Valkyries weren't out yet.  

I bought a Victory Hard Ball....... big mistake.  Same thing as Harley.  Not an great design, not much performance, and a generally disappointing product.  In it's defense it did have the biggest saddlebags I've ever seen but they leaked in the rain.......

My wife rides a Yamaha Warrior.  We switched on the way back from a ride the other day.  She loved it.  I've never had a problem with Honda's quality to this day.  I've owned about five or six or the years and all of them were very low maintenance bikes.  I'm glad to see they continue to produce quality motorcycle.

Safety who needs it.

Harley is being recalled due a coolant leak.

Hell it is air cooled still for the most part. Drain the Coolant and give it to a Honda Rider.

I know it's easy to bash the HD on a lot of stuff but they don't have the market cornered on recalls by a long shot.

Every manufacturer, every one,  has recalls. Pick one, add recalls to the search and watch.

Not an American manufacturing issue either.

What it probably is is an American litigation issue coupled with, due to technology for the most part, a less mechanically minded population.

Add 2 pounds of charms to a key ring and watch it destroy the ignition switch as it swings to and fro then sue.
