It's pretty easy to spoof  your IP address.  It's even free.  I hide my identity frequently to defeat the NSA and other spy bots.

A gracious and polite exit I guess is hard to do for you, it takes much more of a man to say what you have to face to face or when your not going to exit than to say it upon exit. I would also say that the Valk goes 300k and I dont know any Harley that attains that mileage without a complete tear down. So with a Harley you really dont worry about what it looks like or maintenance when its expected to go for short rides or to tear it down completely. I know many who bought their Valks to go cross country and in fact is a true selling point. The fact that so many are so open and honest about repairs is a good excuse for those who want to change brands. I know of alot of Harley shops and very few that repair other bikes. That kind of sends the message I can make money repairing Harleys. While my son sells Harleys and I love looking at them I decided along time ago that 6 beats 2. I only write this because you have been here awhile have enjoyed the hospitality on the board and the tech and I am surprised at the way you exit. Why would you knowing that you dont like the way people banter exit with the same way. Consistency of a man to be able to say what he has to in any situation seems to be a rare commodity. Its so much easier to hit and run than to stay and change the things you dont like. Welcome to divorce, temporary friends, two faced people and so on. While I dont know you well enough to accuse you of any of these which is why I only say enjoy your Harley and ride safe. I have enjoyed some of your posts and will miss your input. Jesus always told the truth even when the Pharisees did not like it. The Bible says that a wise man loves reproof and a fool will not heed it. Wisdom is not always what we want, but it will always be truthful, and sometimes we learn by it and grow so as not to do the same mistakes. If I personally left this board it would not be with touting a Harley or trashing people especially on a board where I have taken time to know people and the Valk is what they all ascribe to. It would be with "thanks for all you've done" I have had some good times", or just walk away. People give what they can this board and people are no exception and probably much more open honest and helpful than most. While banter is hard on some frail individuals its part of life its not permanent. When you open a conversation with antagonism instead of love to say goodbye I would expect no less of a result. In fact if CMA is a Christian I would have to apologize for his remarks they are not loving, honorable, nor edifying.

Not gonna bash any other maker of bikes. Hell I've got Honda and Indian and have ridden HD's too. And I will give HD kudos for branding. Virtually every single HD rider I saw here this weekend for Thunder Beach was a walking billboard. Hell it looked like NASCAR drivers on two wheels. And my BIL and sister are both guilty of that as well. I joked with them when they came down to dinner that now it's easy to buy them Christmas....all I gotta get is a HD gift card.

Then my BIL ticked off to me what some of the regular maintenance costs are for his 2014 Ultra Classic Limited. I was shocked and astounded.

As I mentioned earlier....sorry to see you leave....but Eric Cartman has more tact in his farewells.

Most of us VRCC "moped riders" are proud of our bikes and have enough mechanical savvy to properly maintain our bikes.

I must take a fair amount of responsibility for his displeasure as it seemed to be my post that sent him over the edge.  As I've said before, I probably shouldn't have used the term asshat, but the negative posts responding to our friend's request touched a nerve in me.  It would have been easy for folks to simply not contribute and move on.  Lots have.  Cma1 was not the only negative poster and I did not specifically reference him, but it was easy enough to determine that it was his post and others to which I referred.

I can be a bit of an asshat myself from time to time, maybe even more often.  I've tried to figure out why I don't get along with some folks as well as I used to.   What I've arrived at is there are basically two types I have a lot of trouble with; those pretending to be something they're not and those who seem to be full of themselves.  I guess that's pretty much all of us at one time or another.

I wish Dennis well with his Harleys and his better friends.  Vaya con Dios, cma1.  It's a long journey from where we were to where we'll be, isn't it?

Even though I don't post a lot I have been around a long time, #9365. I have owned Kawasaki's, Yamaha's, multiple Honda's including two Valks. After 10 years on a Valkyrie I decided to try a Harley Wide Glide. The Wide Glide didn't meet my needs so I traded it for a Harley Ultra Classic which I've had going on 5 years. I have test ridden the new Indians but I'm not sold on them yet. I don't care what anyone rides and I wave at everyone. I have seen the Harley attitude that has been mentioned and I always make it a point to not behave in a bad way so I'm not put in that catagorie. I have always believed the most important thing is to share the passion of riding on two wheels. The thing to remember is we all share the same wind.

Thunder Beach just finished up here in PCB. Probably 3 dozen or so people commented favorably on my Valk. Did not ask what they rode....did not care....just like C9 says...passion on two wheels. And for the most part TB is a celebration of that.

I do hope cma grows a thicker skin. Needed nowadays and I don't care which message board you frequent.

Yes Willow, I like to say it this way....This world would be a lot better place without people.  I have learned through the difficult process of trying to love people more that (at lest for me) there are more un-loveable or rather more accurately hard to love people than one would think. 

I totally agree with your statement that what is hard to get along with in folks applies to all of us at one time or another.  If only everyone agreed with me  ha ha  ha.

So my friend I know you know this.  But this is the key to getting along (the hard part is practicing it)

We need to love people and enjoy being with people regardless of what our perception of their nature is.  Our idea of the true nature of a person (especially if we "know" them mostly on line) is most definitely flawed.  So its really becomes simple.  I either love people or I don't.  Their "negative" behavior is just MY excuse for my inability to get along.

We all are in the same boat, we all have a ways to go.  Maybe out of this situation we can all learn that the typed word is not a reliable indicator of the person, the spoken word is better but still has context to take in consideration.  Meaningful personal interaction (In person) is the only way to assess ones true nature.  Until we "know" someone that way its really unfair to form any significant opinion especially a negative one.

the truth of the matter is.. some folks can get along with others.. and some can't..Has little to do with what you ride, but what your real person is.  I spent several years riding goldwings  and Harleys.... still have the Harley....  and have received NO hard feelings from the folks here on the board ....  and have made MANY lifelong friends here!.  It's just a freakin motorcycle..  the friends ya make along the road are what counts..
 as a side note.. FB and I took off Saturday for a ride...  my Valk started having issues..my clutch would not disengage...  Made it back to the house.. had to kill the motor at stops...  cranked up the Harley and we went on our ride...Had a nice ride!  the next day I fixed the issue with the Valk .. and all is good.
 I guess what I'm trying to say is:.. ride what ya want...  but there is no call for being an ass about it....btw  the 43 on my hotglue 43 is because I was the 43rd member of the VRCC.. been here a while...and has given me the chance to meet MANY fine folks!!!!

after a long time here, and many years on a valk, I have to bid everyone here goodby. I have made some good personal friends like evan, and the crew from Colorado, but for several reasons I must head out.

I am going to be riding a new Harley bagger, (so begin the flaming) and the flaming is probably a big reason for my changing, I have been on a Harley forum for some time and believe it or not they are really pretty adult about other brands of bikes, seldom do I see any immature bike bashing like I see here. it seems that on the Valkyrie forums people are really quick to start bashing someone for just about anything, but really quick for expressing your opinion about something, I actually haven't saw that on the Harley forums much, and not at all in the outlaw groups. they have better things to do apparently. I have never been called an "old bastard" or an "asshat" on any of the Harley boards, and they tend to respect CMA members.

while I really like my Valkyrie, I have come to worry about my petcock, my alternator, my rear pinion cup, my elusive O-rings, hydrolock, pinched vaccum lines, desmogging, tightening everything every 5 days to avoid "popping", not running the right size car tires, etc, etc, etc. seems like if things can go wrong with a bike it will eventually go wrong with a Valkyrie, I am becoming afraid to ride it cross country.

I have split my time in the saddle and on the board between my valk, and a brothers Harley, so far I have found no problems with the Harley except that it gets 48 mpg running all day at the same speed as my Valkyrie, pulling a trailer it still gets 46 mpg, my Valkyrie drops from 30 to 24 with the same trailer, I don't have all the shaft drive stuff to worry me, and there is no need to change to car tires. fuel injection eliminates the need to buy pingles or elect. valves to avoid hydrolocked motors. belts are cheap and easy to install compared to the drivelines that seem to be such a problem with the Valkyries, according to what we read here.

now all that said, I have rode three valks. thousands, and thousands of miles and have had absolutely none of these problems, I get 25K on a set of dunlops, (until I triked it, now I would probably wear out the bike before I needed a tire) but according to the board members, eventually i'm gonna hydrolock it, right ?

but far more than the mechanical problems, I cannot stay around a group that have very little respect for a persons opinion, and are so quick to call folks an "asshat"
