connect throttle cable

Hello I'm somewhat new here to the board. I am in the process of putting back the carbs and at the point of trying to connect the throttle cable. I have the bottom one connected and having a hard time connecting the top cable, for now I gave up will have to wait till daylight, poor lighting and have only two hands. I tried to connect the other way by the hand grip but seems just as worst.

Which way is better by the carbs or by the hand grip??  And any pointers besides taking out all the slack?

unbolt the clamp that holds the handlebars so you can move the bars to the left, then you have all the room in the world....note, pad the tank

It's way better and easier to to do it at the carbs. The way to do it is to not worry about calibrating it, you'll have to "loosen" them all the way to slide them in. Also. Make sure when/if you removed the cables, that you routed it proper so as not to bind the cable when handlebars are turned left. That being said, when reconnecting the cables, it will help to turn the bars to the right. Good luck.

Thanks all, I went with Chrisj way and moved the bars far left, slid the grip off and the cable went right on then slid the grip back on. Thanks again, now it can sleep tonight and deal with the air box tomorrow. I know putting the air box is going to be a pain with trial and error.

Nah just man handle it in there, make sure sure that after you get it in, check the direction of the intake tubes inside the box to be sure they're facing the correct directions
