Still trying to get Netflix. Google Chromecast doesn't work. Well, it doesn't work for me and they are no help. Apparently it won't work with an Apple router.
So, since I use an Apple puter and router I bought an Apple TV thingy.  I'm out of patience and I guess I'll have to call Apple. I don't want to, so, I'm going riding to cool down.
Just another rant, have I mentioned that I hate computers and pretty much what goes with them. I don't know how I manage to communicate here. I'm just a mechanical guy and guess I was born too late. I really did like the good old days. I still watch the old shows.
OK, just had to explode. Off to look at some colors and smell some grapes.

Apple TV sucks, get a Netflix account on a wifi type device like the ipad.

I got the Apple TV last year so I could watch House of Cards...worked well...only tip or trick someone passed on to me is to change the settings on the
Apple TV to a lower / lowest resolution so the programs will download faster and you don't have to wait very long for them to spool up.  Also us it to watch things from
my laptop to the regular TV and that works well also.

I watch Netflix through my LG 47 inch which has an app for Netflix. Also it's wireless from the modem since I use a dongle ( sounds a little odd )

Any way Netflix works great.

Don't use the computer for that. Good thing as I know just enough to be dangerous.i

I think it's called "Sharing" by Apple......whatever is displayed on my Apple laptop or desktop (think iPads work too) can be "Shared" with my regular TV as long as
my Apple TV box is hooked up.....it essentially makes my regular TV a large monitor for my puters.......YouTube music videos, photographs, charts, graphs, emails, etc.
I'm not very computer savy so other systems or products might do the same thing...this is the one I'm familiar with....

I'm sure I'll end up buying a smart TV.
First, I'll break down and call Apple. When that doesn't work I'll call Netflix. When that doesn't work I'll get the smart TV. When that doesn't work I'll get out the BFH and take up reading fiction novels.
This has been going on for a month. I'm just as stupid as they come with computers.

I just went the kindle fire HDX route. If your a prime member you get a lot of music and movies free. It can mirror to a box you connect to a Hdmi port.  I heard it works, just waiting for the box.

The kindle gives you real simple access to the internet.

Another reason to hate Apple and their products.  If your router only works with Apple stuff what good is it?  I understand proprietary, but Apple takes it to the extreme.  Won't buy any of their overpriced crap.

I have a non-"Apple" router and I use Chromecast on my tv.  Control it with my "Android" tablet or cell phone with literally a hundred apps on Android's play store.  Netflix is only one of many things I can do with Chromecast.

I get netflix through my ROKU box. You can get it at Best Buy or wally world. Just need wifi internet access.

This Macbook pro has been the best computer I've had, but, again, I'm a computer idiot. I don't like the fact that Apple is over priced and nothing else works with them.
So far, even this new Apple thingy for Netflix doesn't work either. Maybe I should have bought a Netgear router and kept the Chromecast. But, I don't know.
I suspect I'll be beating the crap out of everything and taking up reading those dumbass fiction novels. I just had to get away from it before I grabbed a hammer.

Just buy a cheap xbox for 199 and it is already installed ready to go with a paid subscription.

Then, you can play games as well just like my kids do all the time. 

We have 2 xbox basic ones (each room with cheap 32" Emerson TV) with only 4gb of RAM, not the pricey 299+ 64GB one.   We even got one basic xbox for 99 bucks black friday last year, the other 199 full retail at the time.  If you have a basic TV, is all you need.  Might be worth going that route since 99% sure a retailer will have another 99 dollar deal on a basic xbox?

Got an Amazon FireTV recently mostly for watching YouTube videos which I find as entertaining as anything, it also has all those movie outfits and TV options available, works great and it is under $100, just need wifi.
