from 1st to N. . . whether I liked it or not

what gives?

Riding two-up this weekend, and my gearbox popped out of 1st and into neutral!??  That has never happened to me before.  Engine, was warm only (not cold, not hot).

2000 GL1500CT
32K miles
AmSoil 20W-50 Full Synth.

Thoughts?

Just the 1 time ? If so it probably wasn't fully engaged in first. I've done it before.

Seems to happen fairly often on bikes with heel/toe shifters, so it's probably a failure to fully engage.

It didn't hurt anything ? Hasn't happened since ? No big deal, happens if not fully in gear.
