one other question...what is the best front tire with a darkside rear?

Whatever front tire you know and love now will probably be fine. Except, in my opinion, an E3 if you like to lean in the corners.

I run Metzler @ 40# when I had my Darkside tires.

MGM is now a Trike and I'm still running Metzler up front.

I tried almost every brand on the market back then.

Metzler held up the best for me.

Might not suit you however.

You will have to experiment.

Yokohama advid envigor 205 60 on rear and an me880 on front, 34 psi rear, 42 psi front.

Normal Metzler front on mine and a Austone taxi tire on the back, no complaints

I thought my General Altimax was the best rear tire.  THEN, I took hosers advice, and put a Dunlop BIAS tire on front.  WOW!  Love it now!

<---- Metzler Front, Austone Taxi Tire Rear.  Never had a more stable or better ride.   Additionally, at highway speeds, I'm running about 250 rpms less than before switching to the Austone.

This is the combo I finally settled on for the Valky.
If you run the Metz in the front be careful when you order. They make it in both H or V rated. Get the V rate! You wont get as many miles but the H rated is a bias ply & doesn't handle nearly as well.
The Riken Raptor rear is pretty square & thus unforgiving at slow speeds, (requires considerable countersteer) but well worth it in the twisties. The Valk couldn't break it loose on dry pavement, it took the 1800 wing to do that. (Fits both bikes!)
