tail light assembly

Is there any difference in the tail light assemblies of a '97 standard, and a '01 interstate? Are they interchangable?

A Standard has a tail light on the fender; an Interstate has tail lights on the trunk.

I believe there is a difference in the way the lens is held on. 97 uses 2 screws, 01 uses 1 screw. Should wire up the same.

Yes should be wired the same. All other Honda's are.

In the back of the Clymer manual for our Valks, they have color coded wiring diagrams for standards as well as interstates. 

It's the best wiring diagram I've come across.

Maybe clarify. The lights might use the same colored wires and are interchangeable. But the wiring harness is different between the IS and the other models.

Still, you 'might' prefer the older turn signals (2 screws on the front of lens). The older versions include a parabolic reflector in the light shell. Either old or new, both turn signals screw in the same assembly bracket, they're interchangeable. Pics below from BigBF. More here.

I doubt the differences with the wiring harnesses would effect the rear turn signals' plug in. That is, the rear signals assembly is a generic/identical item designed to hook up to either a I/S or a Standard's harness.

BF, I have a Clymer's manual, although I must admit that I hadn't seen it in a while. My wife had put it in the most unlikely place for me to look(in the book shelf. Who puts books in a book shelf?)
RONW, thank you for pointing out to me about the parabolic reflector. I did not realize the newer signals didnot have them. also, thank you for the link to BIGBF's signal conversion. I installed the Electrical Connections kit several years ago. The whole reason for changing my turn signal assembly was because I had the same problem taking mine apart that he had with the nut having to be pried out. Now I know how to fix that.
