Good morning,

I recently purchased a complete rear caliper assembly off a 2001 Interstate which I am considering having chromed to put on my 2000 standard. If someone could answer a couple of questions it would be greatly appreciated;

1. Is there anything I should know before taking it to the chrome shop; what to remove, what to leave in place, any preparation required?

2. After researching part #'s and seeing a difference, are the parts (pistons & seals) interchangeable     between the Interstate caliper and the Standard caliper?

Thanks,
Mike

Nope  ;) ...

I've never tried to put an Interstate caliper on a Tourer/STD, but there's no possibility
of putting an Interstate piston/seal into a Tourer/STD caliper...

Thanks, I guess I should have done some research first, I will see if it fits the next time I have the rearend apart. If the whole assembly fits I will rebuild with new seals and pistons.

I M H O any caliper you want chromed I would TRY VERY hard to NOT have the caliper piston bores chromed. Chroming would make the bores smaller doncha know! RIDE SAFE.
Today is the tommorow you worried about yesterday. If at first you don't succeed screw it-save it for nite check.  1964  1968 U S Navy. Two cruises off Nam.

Good thought, I will check with the chrome shop as to how they avoid doing that.

A "GOOD" chrome shop is "supposed" to know that. If they don't, don't walk away ... run!
Good luck!  :cooldude:
I still have a full deck.
I just shuffle slower ...
