Valkjerk, I sure do hope this makes your butt happy.

I've deleted it just for you.

Happy Holiday's.

Pappy!

Sad....but funny!

Some day I want to take a real train trip through the Rockies. I hear it is absolutely amazing.

Valkjerk

RJ, you must be a screaming liberal to do something as........ I'm sorry. I don't want to come down on you because I don't know you but this thread compels me to post. Your "pie in the sky" attitude could have gotten you and your wife killed but even worse, it could have created an international incident that quite possibly could have affected all of us. I question the wisdom of all the folks on this little adventure and its organizers. I'm inclined to get really ugly about this but I digress.
Ride like it's your last....grinnin' all the way.

GR, no need to explain it to him/her, they wouldn't understand anyway.

All evidence is gone now.   Just to make them happy.

Sorry, I pissed someone off.

I'll just say he wasn't the 1st and he/she won't be the last.

Happy SAFE Holiday's.

RJ, why did you delete this? If I missed something, then please explain it to me. I'm a simple man (not a woman). If I missed something in your post, then please point it out. I may have failed to get some tongue in cheek point and want to get this corrected. GR, help me out here. I'm not a stupid person but I may be careless in my reading. I'm sorry but I think going to Afghanistan is absolutely crazy.

Valkjerk, sorry but you are like my oldest son.       Opens mouth and sounds off before putting his brain in gear.   So rather than try to explain it to you, it is gone.    Next time read it 2 or 3 times before you sound off.

I will not explain it to you, if you didn't get it before I deleted it, I say tough sheet, as you wouldn't understand if I did explain it.

The emperor has no clothes

Damn it ! I hate it when I'm a day late and a dollar short  :tickedoff:

BF

It was a joke.

RJ, you should put it back up.   :cooldude:
I can't help about the shape I'm in
I can't sing, I ain't pretty and my legs are thin
But don't ask me what I think of you
I might not give the answer that you want me to

Valkjerk

I sure hate it when I miss the joke. That being said RJ, now you're getting downright nasty and I don't give a bleep if you re-post or not. I hate to admit it but as I said in my earlier post, I don't read as carefully as I should but I don't need excoriation from the likes of you. You have yourself a MERRY CHRISTMAS sir.

Thanks RJ :cooldude: It was funny  :2funny:. Valkjerk, ease up it was just a joke :o

Valkjerk

I'll ease up when RJ does.

hey yall,,, guess what i found!!!! enjoy it again!!!

My wife and I decided to go on an organized trip to Afghanistan , to see for ourselves what the place was like.

It didn't start well as the train we were traveling on broke down just few miles south of the station.  We found ourselves stranded in a scary hell hole where no one around us spoke any English!

The train, and surrounding streets were full of Muslims, angry bearded types glared at us, my wife stood out in her brightly colored sun-dress, as all the local women were draped in black, head to toe, burkas.

We were extremely scared and convinced that we were in deep trouble.

Just then, Dave our group leader ushered us off the train and around the corner from Dearborn AMTRAK Station to the Greyhound terminal, where we continued our journey safely to Detroit Metro Airport.

Hmmm, it did make me smile, does that mean something bad?

... but I don't need excoriation from the likes of you. ...

Valkjerk, I'm curious.  From the likes of whom do you need excoriation?   ;)  I know I need it from a lot of folks.

I'm not going to say who is right or who was wrong, we can likely all figure that out.

R J Bullard was wounded thrice during the conflict on the Korean peninsula.  He fought his way with his brother Marines over seventeen days in continuous sub zero temperatures out of an encirclement of Chinese who held a much greater than 2:1 advantage.  It was there General Chesty Puller reportedly quipped, "We're surrounded.  That simplifies the situation."

I'd personally take a lot of crap off R J even when he's dead wrong and respond by saying simply, "Thank you, sir."  That, however, is just me.

It was a joke, and not a very good one at that.

Thanks, RJ. I laughed then shook my head. That area is a sad tale of bad change since I was there in the 60s.....but the joke was still funny.
I ride a motorcycle because nothing transports me as quickly from where I am to who I am.

Thanks for reposting Jess. I already admitted to not reading the last sentence and instead to fly off the handle and post my comments. I think RJ could have said "you didn't get it, Gary, go back and read the whole thing dummy". Willow, I'm no hero, nor do I claim to be but I served my four years for this country. I just didn't learn to read everything through to the end.LOL I cast no aspersions on RJ and my hat's off to you for the joke. You got me! ('cause I'm easy). I became the butt of the joke by my response but I have no trouble laughing at myself so for now, I wear the dunce hat. Hell, as a Goldwinger, I wore the nipple a couple times. Thanks you for your service RJ and your heroism.

I do not post to pick fights.

I'm sure we have all posted something in haste. Glad you came around :cooldude:

Valkjerk

After reading it again, it brings to my mind a conversation I had with a friend that lived in Dearborn a couple years ago. He said you could easily forget that you are in America.

Back in the 80s and early 90s there was/is a meat packing plant in Kansas that you could VERY easily fergit you were in the U S of A. Mostly Vietnamese and oh the number of stabbings/knifings! RIDE SAFE.

As a Korea vet who DID NOT see combat, i'm with RJ.  He did his part.

I'm glad that  everything is again tai jobie (ok in Korean slang? hell, i don't know. bits and pieces clog up this 86 year old mind!)

Pappy!

Way to go Valkjerk, that was a stand up thing to do!

Valkjerk

Thanks Pappy. I'm not afraid to admit to my screw-ups. I have to do that with my bride all day long. I told her the other day that I spend more time apologizing to her than actual conversation.LOL
