WOW!! He was one of my favorites.  Seen him at the Grande Ballroom and the Eastown several times also with Leon Russel. Strange but great entertainer.

So sad. I always liked his unique sound. My co-workers wondered, as I did, about his unusual movements while performing. Then saw an interview with him and he explained it saying he was a great admirer of Ray Charles and wanted to mimic Ray's movements on stage. Yes, indeed, one of a kind. He'll be missed. Sad

Yup, I just heard that on the car radio.  Sad, but he has been suffering with the cancer for quite some time.  RIP Joe...

Later, Joe. Thanks for the fantastic tunes.
Truly one of the greats of our time. Wood Stock alumni.
When my Mom first saw him, she thought it was a fund raiser some kind of malady telethon.
We never let her forget the "Poor man".
I'll bet he couldnt have gotten a five dollar bet he'd  see 70.

Yep, I imagine he lived a rough wild life. Still a shame to hear of him going. Hopefully he is with a bunch of old friends.

Here's a pair of fuzzy pictures of Joe onstage as they were handing out door prizes at the VOA rally in 1999.  His wife Pam catered the event.  She also rode, and had a Honda Shadow as I remember.

I forgot to mention the location.  The VOA rally was in Montrose, Colorado, and the pictured BBQ was in Crawford.

He owned the Mad Dog Ranch in Crawford, CO and used to own the bike destination Mad Dog Ranch cafe for a few years in Crawford.

He was a cattle breeder - Watusi

That was Bill Whithers, he is still with us I believe.
Saw Joe in concert a few years ago. Loved it. Will miss him.

Joe's house in Crawford - The Mad Dog Ranch.  We stayed as houseguests of George, Pam's brother.

The Mad Dog Ranch Fountain Cafe - Pam's project.  Joe would stop by your table if he wasn't on tour.

Joe and Pam had a Cocker Kid's Foundation to benefit kids.  They had an auction of furnishings from the Ranch some years ago.  I bought an African Watusi wood carving, here Joe is signing the back of it for me.
