My bike didn't start so easily last week when I moved it from the shed to
put new tires on it. It normally starts real easy, even if it is freezing out, even
if I haven't ridden in a week or two. I don't want to go on the Oyster Run
or some other ride and end up broke down. I posted to the Tech Board about
it, and ended up taking my  USA made Yuasa, which my records show I got
in 2011, over to be checked at Advance Auto Parts...

I kind of wonder, does their machine ever say "your battery is awesome, don't buy
a new one  cooldude "? ... I have my doubts...

Anywho... the interesting thing is the battery I bought... a lithium battery... it is
so light, it is like an empty plastic box, I think it might float. And it is small, it has
little lego legs to snap on until it is the right height, and a button to mash
that shows its condition... it has a longer warranty and more cranking amps
than a normal battery.

It will either be a great battery or I'll go up in flames like those new Boeing
Jets...

Mike.

Do you want a bed settee in Roswell Thursday night?

I'm heading out with riding friend Ian at 1 pm to ride to Auburn.

First thing first: I'm not knocking Mike's purchase. I might try one type of LiPo or LiFePo in the future.

That said I do from time to time test batteries for fire suppression purposes. I shot the video below a couple of years ago of a Lithium battery that is at 50% charge.

A 100% charge battery fire is much closer to an explosion where the fire ball and pressure is much, much greater.

The thermal runaway temperature of a Lithium cell is around 235 degrees Fahrenheit. You certainly never want to overcharge one of these as the extra charge turns into heat. The battery in the video was heated slowly with a hot plate and reaches this critical temperature.

Yeah, I thought about how mine would go in there too... and... you could get rid of the
lego legs and replace it with the right sized box and have even more space...
