What is wonderful about this is that people will walk past an older person as though they don’t exist, and I am sure that many of you, as have I, had that happen countless times. I sometimes think that in the eyes of the young, we become invisible as we age, especially in these days of all absorbing portable technology that so entrances the young! I sometimes sing this to my wife....corny, yes. But it's from the heart. This wonderful older gentleman made them stop and pay attention; and they did! God bless him! And please turn up your sound. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10201870505357473

A bit strange, 48 read/listened to the post and video but no comment? Oh well, I enjoyed it. The man has a great voice, shows some training as well. It's obvious he has kept using that voice as he aged, has great control and timbre. Wish I could still do as well.

Thanks John! That was wonderful. I'll be hitting the big 71 day after tomorrow. My wife just had total knee replacement surgery about 2-1/2 weeks ago. So we're kind of stuck indoors with temps in forties, clouds, and drizzle. Nice to see a seasoned citizen perform so well! It lifts the spirits.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all,
Doug

What a beautiful performance of a great song. And, without going into any details, your timing was perfect. Thank you, John, for posting this. It would seem that it was just what I needed to hear tonight.

If that man hasn't been on Broadway, its a shame. He belongs there. But, regardless, I doubt he needed to set his hat on the ground. I'd like to find out his name.

Here's a YouTube link with a couple different songs by the same guy, one is the same one as in my post. Just have to get through those irritating ads first. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8O15DogWgghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RojlDwD07I

Tried Google and all I got was a wiki page in Dutch that says he is a Dutch opera singer who won third season of Holland's Got Talent, in 2010.

Thank you John for posting this. My mother went to be with Jesus the day after this past mothers day, she was 85. First Christmas without her. Your post of this video was right on time John. It lifted me up. What a awesome set of baritone pipes Martin has. I don't think you singing it to you your wife is corny one bit. From reading your other post you two are blessed to have one another.
Merry Christmas to you, your wife and family

Beautiful, Merry Christmas all. And Mike, on the off chance that you need a stranger to talk to, inbox me your number, I'd be more than glad to lend an ear or help.

I am somewhat convinced and have been for some time that one of the biggest waste of our natural resources is the talent and knowledge of the elderly. I felt this way long before I joined the ranks of the grey and somewhat wrinkled crowd. My father who is gone now was always surprising me with his knowledge and understanding of subjects I had no idea he was versed in. Someday, someone will find a way to harness all this power.

Thanks for sharing John! It truly stirs the soul! My grandfather was a Dutch immigrant who loved to sing in the Messiah. Martin's pronunciation of the English words with - wit, and than - dan, are the same and brought back some great memories.

That was wonderful,Thanks. My wife and I just had a older woman over the house a few days ago and we found out she grew up in Germany before the war. She came over to wish us a Merry Christmas. I would love to hear some of her stories from before the war and after. She moved here after the war as a teenager.
