Again. Seems like a young MAN of color pulled out his pistol and the L E O shot better. They DO have video of the incident. L E O doing what he was trained to do-go home alive-and people insisted on rioting and robbing stores in the area. And AGAIN the L E O doing the shooting is white. So I'm ONLY guessing here DO NOT pull a gun on the L E Os. MERRY CHRISTMAS and RIDE SAFE.

Not only that, if nut jobs will just walk up to their cars with a smile and shoot them point blank, why should they not assume a very defensive attitude and ready combat position in any dealings with the public whatsoever?  It may not be as bad as Afghanistan, but it's getting there (esp in urban areas).

I am not very happy with the overall militarization of civilian police forces, but with this crap going on, what would you do in their position?

Police confirmed Martin's name later Wednesday morning. Belmar said he had a criminal record, with charges including three assaults, armed robbery, armed criminal action and multiple uses of weapons since he was 17.
so why is this guy out of jail? lawyers/judges/politicians let them back on the streets

Sounds to me like all you guys are looking at this from your "white privilege" point of view. Maybe some thought about what brought him to the point of lowering his aim on a LEO would be in order. He was probably fed up with LEOs getting in the way of all his 3-R edumacation. Rioting, robbing and raping. He had enough!

For the L E Os on our board. Is it just me or did the folks standing around outside move enmasse towards the Police cruiser when it showed up? The Chief of Police said he thought it might have turned into-or tried to turn into an ambush situation. I've been in sketchy places and when a Police cruiser shows up SOME folks are tryin HARD to leave the area. Or am I being paranoid? RIDE SAFE.

Don't most cops have taser guns to use set on high?  Not taking sides, but if someone pointed a gun at me, I'd probably shoot back as well or if having NO gun, run like hell. 

This probably wouldn't even had made national news if a black police officer shot a white thug?

Fortunately there was security camera, or three, to back up officers position in this.  Considering the climate, I doubt the witnesses would have.  I believe I heard on the news that the cruiser camera was off and his personal camera he was supposed to be wearing was on the front seat. Or maybe that was a different case, but I think not.  Those guys need to protect themselves from a legal stand point.  Not having cruiser camera on, or personal camera on, can put the officer in a negative spot light, even if his intentions were positive.  I'm surprised they don't make that camera stuff mandatory since Obama is spending our tax money on that (at least the story goes).  Why spend the money if it isn't going to be used as intended to protect the officers interests? This could have been very bad (worse) if there were no cameras to capture what happened.....

          NOT making excuses here but that chief of Police said they had just recently received those body cameras and not everyone is checked out yet. I do see a crash course in body camera use in the greater St. Louis Mo. Metroplex.  And I'd be willing to bet that ALL cameras will be fixed/repaired/replaced SOONEST. GOD forbid another shooting but curious as I am WHAT will happen when they have video PROOF the bad guy did in FACT draw a weapon?  They have THAT PROOF on this shooting-AND well heel you KNOW the rest. During the NYC funeral yesterday the police again turned their backs on de blasio. The mayor is trying to backpedal but is still not man enough to say he screwed up and was wrong and apologize.
